Riviera Country Club (par 71, 7,383 yards, kikuyu fairways/kikuyu rough/poa annua greens) will be hosting The Genesis Invitational this week. After the tournament was held at Torrey Pines last year due to the California wildfires, the Genesis has returned to Riviera. Despite this being a signature event, the field will be cut down from 72 golfers to the top 50 and ties after Friday’s round.
Below, I have featured two of my favorite long shot outright bets to win The Genesis Invitational on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Adam Scott (+5300)
Adam Scott has multiple wins in his career at Riviera Country Club. He won The Genesis Invitational in 2020 and won the at-the-time Nissan Open all the way back in 2005 when Scott was just 24 years old. In 16 career tournaments at Riviera, Scott has made 15 cuts, has seven top-10 finishes, two runner-up finishes and two wins. This is a place where Scott has always played well, and he could be getting his game together at the perfect time for another run here. Scott played well internationally at the end of 2025 and has started this PGA TOUR season with three made cuts, including a T-24 at The American Express and a T-30 at the Farmers Insurance Open.
Scott ranks third on the PGA TOUR in strokes gained off the tee this season. He is driving the ball fantastically, and his ball-striking has been strong as well. From tee to green, he is a top-20 player in the world this year. Where he has really struggled is around the greens. If those struggles continue, Scott doesn’t have much of a chance. However, this is a course where he has putted brilliantly in the past. If Scott can use his familiarity with this course to improve around and on the greens, combined with his great play from tee to green, he could make a run at a win this week.
Max Homa (+7400)
Max Homa is in desperate need of a win to give his career a spark. Homa was one of the rising stars on the PGA TOUR in 2022 and 2023. He then had a shaky 2024 and a disastrous 2025. Homa is hoping to find some kind of spark, and nowhere seems a better place for him than Riviera Country Club. Homa got his second career win here at The Genesis Invitational in 2021 and he has consistently been excellent at this course. In each of his last five trips to Riviera, Homa has finished 16th or better, including four top-10 finishes. In addition to his win in 2021, he was also the runner-up in 2023. He has also been great at similar West Coast venues. His most recent win on the PGA TOUR was at the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. Homa is also a two-time winner at Silverado Country Club in Napa, California.
Homa’s game is uniquely suited to certain courses, and he performs well at those venues, but struggles elsewhere. He has six career PGA TOUR wins, and four of them came from two tournaments that he won twice. Even in the majors, Homa has struggled at The Open, the US Open and the PGA. However, despite his other struggles, he has finished T-12 and T-3 at The Masters the past two years. If Homa is ever going to win on TOUR again, it will likely be at a place he has already won. That is why he is worth a long shot bet at Riviera this week.
