Maryland vs. Rutgers College Basketball prediction, preview

A week ago, Maryland was 1-10 in Big Ten play with a blowout win at home over a bad Penn State team. Fast forward seven days, and the Terps are one of the hotter teams in the conference, coming off consecutive wins as a double digit underdog — at Minnesota and versus Iowa. That said, I’ll sell at the peak on Maryland.

Rutgers will not be looking past this team, as it gets its best chance at a home win in a while. The Scarlet Knights have lost seven in a row, but have been competitive against strong competition. Rutgers has been an underdog in all 13 conference games, and is 6-2 ATS over its last eight games. The Scarlet Knights have dropped all 11 conference games when priced as a dog of +7.5 or more, but as a short dog of +4.5 they have a pair of home wins over Oregon and Northwestern.

I like a desperate Rutgers team to rise to the occasion on its home floor and get a win over a Maryland team that’s feeling pretty good about itself entering this game. The Scarlet Knights are 6-1 at home when priced as the favorite this season, and I expect that to improve on Sunday.

CBB Pick: Rutgers -2.5 (-105)
