Dayton Flyers vs. Davidson Wildcats prediction, pick for NCAAM on Sunday 2/15/26

Dayton and Davidson both sit at 15-9, and they’re both parked sixth in the A-10, which makes this one a straight-up ladder fight. Dayton just wore a 99-73 loss at VCU, the kind of night that makes the film room loud. Davidson rolls in off an 84-64 win over Loyola Chicago and a 114-53 body-bag, which is exactly how a good shooting team rebuilds its swagger. The spread says Dayton controls the room, but the total says the room still fills with points. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the Dayton Flyers and the Davidson Wildcats.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Dayton vs. Davidson prediction, preview

the Flyers want to play at 72.2 possessions per game and Davidson would rather live around 66.5. What keeps the game from dying is how both sides manufacture threes and free points. Davidson’s season shot profile is 593 threes on 1,355 attempts, powered by a 55.1% eFG. Dayton are a different shape: 32.8% from three, but a heavy rim and line attack with 541 free throws on 1,447 shots, plus a 53.0% eFG that stays sturdy because the paint is always in the menu. The clean separator is Dayton’s defense, because holding opponents to a 46.2% eFG is a profile built on stubbornness. But Davidson’s offense has been the league’s sharpest by efficiency rating, and that matters when the board is pricing a mid-140s scoring shape as if it’s fragile.

Both sides have established closers who can swing the game. Javon Bennett (G) is Dayton’s tempo dial at 14.9 points per game, and the shooting is loud: 44.2% from three and 89.5% at the line, which ranks 51st nationally in FT%. DeShayne Montgomery (G) brings the stress, because 2.7 steals per game sits seventh nationally, and that’s the kind of disruption that turns one sloppy possession into a six-point swing. Marvel Allen L’Etang (C) gives Dayton their grown-up interior at 14.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks, which creates a constant help or concede dilemma at the rim. Davidson’s counters are pure spacing violence: Roberts Blums (G) hits 44.1% from three and 92.2% at the stripe, Parker Friedrichsen (G) is 42.1% from deep, and Josh Scovens (G) is another 40.5% sniper who can punish the first late close. That’s why Davidson can walk into a defensive building and still keep the scoreboard breathing, because the shot quality is portable when three shooters all live above 40%.

Davidson vs. Dayton pick, best bet

Davidson want the game slower, Dayton’s three-point rate is only 32.8%, and UD Arena can turn a road offense’s first five minutes into clenched fists. The intangibles also point both directions at once. Dayton are coming off a public bruise, which usually tightens focus, and that maps directly to defense-first possessions and cleaner shot selection. Davidson just cashed two confidence games at home, and that maps directly to early-shot permission and a quicker trigger if they see daylight. The market is sitting Dayton -4.5 with a 139.5 total, and I get why the number respects the building. But the angles still lean points, because this matchup has two reliable scoring lanes that don’t require miracle shooting: Davidson’s volume-and-spacing threes, and Dayton’s rim pressure that turns into free throws when the game gets tight.

I’m taking over 139.5 (-112), playable to 142.0. Davidson should bring enough shotmaking to keep Dayton honest, and Dayton should answer with paint touches and a steady parade to the stripe; we’ll need more than just jumpers. Dayton’s defense can still win the game, but it doesn’t have to win it quietly, because Montgomery’s ball pressure can create transition scoring that speeds the math up without tempo ever rising. The fragility is clean: if Dayton’s defense forces Davidson into long, late-clock twos and the whistle stays quiet, this can land in the mid-130s.

Predicted score: Dayton 75, Davidson 70.

Best bet: Dayton vs. Davidson o139.5 total points (-110)
