Today, we get an exciting midweek Premier League fixture between Brentford and the league-leading Arsenal.
Arsenal are a -140 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook for this one, with a draw available at +295 odds. Brentford are listed at +390 odds to pull off the home upset and take all three points. This is my prediction and pick for the Premier League tilt between Liverpool and Brentford.
Brentford vs. Arsenal prediction, preview
Arsenal
Arsenal are leading the Premier League, but Manchester City have cut the deficit to just three points. Arsenal have a game in hand, so a win against Brentford in this match would restore their lead to six points. However, it looks like Pep Guardiola’s side will be making it a title race over the final months of the season. Arsenal has been the most consistent team in the league all season, especially defensively. However, even the expensive addition of Viktor Gyökeres over the summer has not fixed Arsenal’s problems at striker. The Gunners can still struggle to create goals from open play at times. However, Arsenal have only conceded 17 goals in 24 matches this season, a truly remarkable feat.
Brentford
Brentford are having a very impressive season. They lost their acclaimed manager, Thomas Frank, to Tottenham prior to the season. Frank was just sacked as Tottenham manager after an unsuccessful season with Spurs. Brentford also lost three of its top four goalscorers from last season, Bryan Mbuemo, Yoane Wissa and Christian Nørgaard. Many were picking Brentford as a team that could possibly get relegated after undergoing such massive changes. However, Keith Andrew has come in and done a remarkable job, with his team sitting at seventh place in the Premier League. They also have the league’s best goalscorer outside of Erling Haaland, Igor Thiago.
Brentford vs. Arsenal Pick
My best bet for this match is for it to finish under 2.5 goals. Arsenal is by far the best defensive team in the league. Between David Raya in goal and the centerback duo of Gabriel and William Saliba, it is so hard to find a way through against the Gunners. That was clear when these teams faced off in December as Arsenal managed to keep a clean sheet against Brentford in a 2-0 win. The last league match between these teams last season was also low-scoring, finishing in a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium when Arsenal was in a title fight with Liverpool. The home crowd at the Gtech Community Stadium should give Brentford a boost to stand up to Arsenal defensively. Brentford will make it hard for Arsenal to create goals, and Arsenal has a great chance to keep another clean sheet. That combination should lead to this game finishing under 2.5 goals.
