Ohio State Buckeyes vs. USC Trojans prediction, pick for NCAAM on Wednesday 2/11/26

USC is 18-6 and 9-3 away, which is not a fluke travel profile. Ohio State is 15-8 and 10-3 at home, and the building expects a response after getting punched at Michigan, 82-61. USC just beat Penn State 77-75 and has been living inside tense finishes without blinking. The number is 7.5 because the market respects Ohio State’s ceiling, but the game texture screams live for long stretches. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the USC Trojans.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Ohio State vs. USC prediction, preview

USC plays at 74.7 possessions per game, while Ohio State sits at 70.2, so this is about who gets to impose rhythm. USC’s offense is 1.175 points per possession, No. 13, and it does not need perfect threes to function. Ohio State is right there at 1.149, No. 28, with cleaner shot quality at 55.7% eFG, No. 27, and 57.1% on twos, No. 18. USC’s eFG is 52.1%, No. 88, but the scoring floor travels because USC is No. 1 in FTA/FGA at 0.475. Ohio State’s FTA/FGA sits at 0.308, No. 138, so the Buckeyes need more made shots to keep pace with the stripe. Turnovers are not a free separator for either side, because USC is at 11.8 per game, No. 109, and Ohio State is at 11.7, No. 104.

Ohio State’s Bruce Thornton (G) is a national-level closer at 19.2 points with 55.1% shooting, 39.6% from three, and 81.9% at the line, and his 83 assists against 29 turnovers keeps possessions honest. John Mobley Jr. (G) adds 15.2 points while hitting 40.5% from deep and 87.3% at the stripe, which punishes late help. Devin Royal (F) brings 13.8 points and 5.6 rebounds, and Christoph Tilly (C) gives them 11.9 points with 52 assists, so the offense has multiple release valves. USC’s side has real creators too. Chad Baker-Mazara (G) is at 18.3 points with 36.7% from three on 139 attempts and 90.5% at the line on 116 attempts, plus 69 assists and 29 blocks, which is two-way workload. Ezra Ausar (F) is the stabilizer at 15.8 points on 61.9% shooting, and Alijah Arenas (G) sits at 12.0 points and 4.5 rebounds with a proven late-clock shot. Jacob Cofie (F/C) anchors the rim with 7.3 rebounds, 39 blocks, and 23 steals, while Gabe Dynes (C) is an efficiency spike at 82.2% shooting with 39 blocks in 23 games.

USC vs. Ohio State pick, best bet

Ohio State can win the interior math, because it finishes twos at 56.8%, No. 8, and it creates extra possessions at 35.4% offensive rebounding, No. 53. USC’s defensive rebounding is the crack, with opponents grabbing 31.4% of misses, No. 298, and that is how leads grow without a three barrage. Ohio State also defends the arc at 30.7% allowed, No. 24, while USC shoots only 32.0% from three, No. 234, so a cold perimeter night is a real danger. USC’s counter is disruption and whistle gravity, but roster volatility matters if creators are limited and the halfcourt gets sticky. If Ohio State controls the glass and keeps USC off clean looks, the spread can look light.

I’m taking over 151.5 (-115) as the best bet because the points have multiple independent engines that do not depend on one team shooting 45% from three. The shot volume is there, with USC at 70.0 shot attempts per game, No. 78, and Ohio State at 68.1, No. 112, which keeps the scoring diet thick even if pace lands in the high-60s. The whistle lane is also loud, because USC commits 19.2 fouls per game, No. 359, and allows 78.8% at the line, No. 350, while Ohio State shoots 77.9% on free throws, No. 17. Even a cold stretch can get rescued by second chances, because USC’s offensive rebounding rate is 33.6%, No. 49, and Ohio State’s defensive rebounding is 70.7%, No. 250, which invites extra looks. The fragility is the refs swallowing the whistle and Ohio State choking the game into a slow, low-FTA halfcourt grind, but the methodology accounts for that by leaning on shot volume and free points as the two most repeatable scoring levers.

Predicted final score: Ohio State 79, USC 75.

Best bet: Ohio State vs. USC o151.5 total points (-115)
