DePaul Blue Demons vs. Creighton Blue Jays prediction, pick for NCAAM on Wednesday 2/11/26

Wintrust nights can feel like a trap when the home side is desperate and the favorite has already bled on the road. DePaul is 12-12 and 4-9 in the Big East Conference, sliding into this with an L4 streak and real stop the skid urgency. Creighton is 13-11 and 7-6 in league play, sitting in that crowded middle where every road win changes the bracket texture. DePaul has been a different animal at home at 10-4, while Creighton’s road record is thin at 2-6, so the building is going to treat every early whistle like a weapon. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the DePaul Blue Demons and the Creighton Blue Jays.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

DePaul vs. Creighton prediction, preview

The efficiency math still tilts Bluejays, and it starts with defense that travels. Creighton’s KenPom profile sits at +10.99 in net, with a 113.8 adjusted offense and a 103.8 adjusted defense, and that defense number is the one that keeps ugly games winnable. DePaul’s profile is lighter at +5.97, with a 111.9 adjusted offense and a 105.9 adjusted defense, and the tempo tags match what the market is pricing: both teams live in the mid-60s, not a track meet by default. The shot-quality lane is where Creighton can bend the game, because TeamRankings has them allowing a 45.5% opponent eFG%, No. 9 nationally, with opponents at 44.6% on twos, No. 6, and 30.6% from three, No. 8. DePaul can still score, but its margin has to be earned against a set wall, not found in easy rhythm. The other “repeatable” separator is free points and whistles, because Creighton keeps opponents off the stripe at a 0.241 opponent FTA/FGA clip, No. 5 nationally, which lowers DePaul’s bailout possessions when the paint gets crowded.

The people on the floor are why I’m not scared of a late-game possession tax. Creighton just stole a 69-68 win over Seton Hall Pirates men’s basketball with Nik Graves (G) drilling the winner with 2.5 seconds left, and that kind of finish travels when the game tightens. Isaac Traudt (F) went for 18 with six threes in that one, Josh Dix (G) added 16, and Fedor Zugic (G) chipped in 13, so the perimeter creation is real even without a perfect night.

DePaul’s counterpunch is legitimate, too, and it is not just vibes. Layden Blocker (G) sits at 11.8 points and 3.5 assists, C.J. Gunn (G) is at 14.0 a night, and N.J. Benson (F) is a true interior stabilizer at 10.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 61.3% from the field. When DePaul can keep the ball moving, it looks like a real offense, because it assists on 61.3% of made field goals, No. 21 nationally. That ball-movement isn’t theoretical either, because DePaul averages 15.3 assists per game, and Blocker is sitting on 42 straight games with an assist, which is real “organize the possession” continuity. And the Benson piece travels in its own way, because his 60.1% effective field-goal rate ranks third in the Big East, so DePaul can manufacture points without needing a three-point heater to feel alive.

Creighton vs. DePaul pick, best bet

The DePaul case is still easy to write, and it is the one that explains the market. They defend the arc by volume, holding opponents to 18.7 three attempts per game, No. 16 nationally, and they block shots at a 6.7% clip, No. 42, so Creighton can’t just bomb its way to comfort. They also create a real “energy lane” at home, and the numbers back that: DePaul averages 15.0 fast-break points, best in the Big East and top-25 nationally, and Wintrust has been drawing 16,661 per game, seventh in the country. If those runouts show up early and the whistles cooperate, the home side can turn a three-minute stretch into a lead that feels bigger than it is.

I’m still taking Creighton ML (-102) as the best bet, with DePaul -1.5 and 142.5 sitting as the board posture. The reason it is moneyline, not cute spread work, is methodology: I want the better underlying team to simply win without a hook or foul-window closure tax. Creighton owns repeatable edges that don’t need hot shooting, because it avoids free points on defense with a 0.278 opponent FTA/FGA, No. 6 nationally, and it defends both lanes at once with that top-10 opponent eFG profile. DePaul can shorten the game by limiting threes and living in transition, but if Creighton makes it a half-court night, the points have to come over a defense allowing just 68.2 per game, No. 27. The fragility is DePaul stacking live-ball runouts into an early cushion and forcing Creighton to win a tight one-possession finish, but the bet is built to survive that by stripping away the hook and trusting the defense to keep the game in the final-five window.

Predicted final score: Creighton 74, DePaul 69.

Best bet: Cal +6.5 (-110) at Syracuse
