Two of the West’s best are set to clash on Tuesday. The Spurs (36-16, 2nd in West) have their eyes set on a title. That means taking down more experienced contenders, such as the Lakers (32-20, 5th in West). Los Angeles, even with Luka Doncic sidelined, isn’t lacking in star power.

A well-rounded, versatile offensive weapon makes for the perfect player to pair up with Victor Wembanyama. Still, there are nights where Castle plays second fiddle to his superstar teammate.
Even if the UConn alum doesn’t score much, he should make his presence felt tonight. Castle has tallied at least seven assists in 23 of his 42 outings so far. In comparison, the Lakers are allowing the seventh-most assists per game to opponents (27.5). Even without Doncic, Los Angeles should hang around long enough to keep San Antonio’s starters on the floor. Following a 12-assist showing on Saturday vs. Dallas, Castle is well-positioned to reach this total tonight.

Los Angeles has a legitimate Big Three this season, thanks to Austin Reaves. The fifth-year pro, already a terrific player, has blossomed into a star. Beyond the arc, Reaves is knocking down 36% of his 7.0 three-point attempts per game. The biggest knock on the guard is health; he’s missed almost half of the season due to injury.
If nothing else, Reaves is someone opposing defenses need to take seriously. San Antonio is terrific on that end of the floor, especially down low. If there’s any weakness for this group, it’s defending the perimeter. Opponents are knocking down 36.2% of their three-point attempts vs. the Spurs. That’s the 11th-highest mark in the NBA this season. Reaves, especially without Doncic, should have the green light from deep. That sets the 27-year-old up nicely entering this crucial matchup.
