Now that Super Bowl LX is in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to start looking ahead to next year. While there are still 32 different teams that can technically reach Super Bowl LXI, we do know for sure where the Big Game will take place in 2027.
Where will the Super Bowl be in 2027?
Super Bowl LXI will be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It will mark the second time the stadium hosts the Super Bowl, following Super Bowl LVI between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals in 2022. The Rams became just the second team ever to win a Super Bowl in their home stadium, replicating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ accomplishment from 2021.
While Super Bowl LX took place 350 miles away in Santa Clara, California, the Big Game will be in the same state in consecutive years for only the fifth time ever. Miami and Tampa went back in 2020 and 2021, as well as 2009 and 2010, while Pasadena and San Diego had the Super Bowl in 1987 and 1988. Miami went back-to-back in 1968 and 1969, as well.
SoFi Stadium opened in 2020. It took the place of the Hollywood Park Racetrack next to The Forum. The Super Bowl took place in the LA area seven times prior to SoFi’s opening. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum hosted Super Bowl I and VII in 1967 and 1973, respectively, while the Rose Bowl in Pasadena hosted in 1977, 1980, 1983, 1987 and 1993.
Prior to Super Bowl LXI, SoFi Stadium will also be a site for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Matches 4, 15, 26, 39, and 59 in the Group Stage will be at SoFi, as will Matches 73 and 84 in the Round of 32 and Match 98 in the Quarterfinals. The United States vs. Paraguay, Iran vs. New Zealand and Iran vs. Belgium are the only confirmed matchups to this point, with Switzerland and the U.S. each guaranteed one other game there against undetermined qualifiers. After Super Bowl LXI, SoFi Stadium will share Opening Ceremony duties for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics with the Memorial Coliseum.

According to a report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal last fall, the NFL fielded a bid from Las Vegas to potentially host Super Bowl LXIII in 2029. It would mark the second time that Sin City hosted the Super Bowl, following the Kansas City Chiefs’ overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers in 2024. The NFL could announce the 2029 and 2030 Super Bowl sites after the league meetings in March 2026.
