BREAK IT DOWN:
(stats taken from DraftKings Sportsbook’s Stats Hub)
Jaxon Smith-Njigba Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-110): Only Kenneth Walker III has shorter anytime touchdown odds than Smith-Njigba, but it’s difficult to argue with the public’s adoration of this prop. Named Offensive Player of the Year on Thursday, Smith-Njigba led the entire NFL in target share during the regular season (35.4%). Not surprisingly, that trend of sheer volume continued in the red zone, where JSN led all Seahawks with 17 targets inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. That said, it’s not like Smith-Njigba needs be to close to the goal line to be a scoring threat, as he also led all players in receiving touchdowns of over 40 yards (3). The former first-round pick is simply one of the league’s most dynamic playmakers, and he’s already found the end zone in Seattle’s wins in the Divisional Round and the NFC Championship. Why can’t he make it three games in a row?
Rashid Shaheed Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+350): This is an interesting one, though I think you can trace some of the public’s want to bet on Shaheed back to DraftKings’ King of the End Zone promotion that’s running for the Super Bowl. It’s a contest that rewards the ability to score long touchdowns — and that’s something that Shaheed can do. In fact, including the playoffs, Shaheed has 18 career touchdowns. Five have been punt or kickoff return scores and only one of the 18 has been from a shorter distance than 19 yards. It’s pretty impressive, but that’s what Shaheed’s speed allows him to do. At the same time, Shaheed has yet to catch a touchdown as a member of Seattle, and he only has a single reception in the postseason run. If Shaheed has piqued your interest with his special teams prowess, maybe just bet on whether there will be a kickoff return touchdown at +2200.
Kenneth Walker III First Touchdown Scorer (+350): Are you starting to notice a pattern? In terms of spread bets and handle, the Seahawks have been getting a lot of love from the public in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, so it makes sense that the team’s touchdown props are also popular. You have to score to cover, right? Walker getting this much attention make sense, as well. With Zach Charbonnet limited to eight offensive snaps in the postseason due to injury, it’s been the “Kenneth Walker Show” for Seattle. In the team’s past two contests, Walker’s combined for 256 scrimmage yards and four trips to the end zone. Not too shabby! As such, the running back is the rightful favorite in the first touchdown market for the Super Bowl. However, I have one word of caution. No AFC team surrendered fewer opponent rushing touchdowns per game than the Patriots (0.6).
3-Leg Same Game Parlay
Taking the most-bet player props individually is always an option, but why not roll them into a parlay and get in on all the action at once? It’s a fun way to tie everything together, feel free to tag along. Let’s see how profitable a Seattle-heavy same game parlay is for Super Bowl LX.
