It’s been 10 years since Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool — why does he get all the credit?
What was that? Shut up, you hack.
Sorry, I don’t know what’s going on— yeah, no kidding. You’re doing an unoriginal bit to make the millionth Deadpool movies rankings list feel original.
There haven’t been a million Deadpool— oh wow. What an original comeback! Take a seat and watch a real writer work.
But who are you? Hey! Strop crossing out my—
Deadpool here. And enough of this italics nonsense. There we go. Much better.
Now, it’s time to give you what you’ve waited 10 years for: My unfiltered thoughts on my movies.*
4. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
I thought I took care of this already? This isn’t even one of my movies!
Blame Hannibal King. Er, I mean Hal Jordan. Wait, how many bad comic book movies has this guy been in? (At least one more.)
Colin Jost’s wife’s ex wanted to pretend to be me so badly that he said yes to a script that was such a mess that it made Van Wilder look like Good Will Hunting.
And don’t even get me started on Riggins’ performance. Stick to football, buddy.
Sure, Wolverine was great. Sabretooth was pretty good, even though he’s a bit of a %#^& — hey, this is supposed to be unfiltered! $%^#. ^@!^. Come on!
3. Deadpool 2
Look, this is one of those dumb lists. All of my movies are great. But, some are greater than others.
This one was really just the next step in my process.
First, I had Colossus as a sidekick. He was like the Robin to my Batman. (Did I say that right? I hear super-thoughtful sports commentators talk about guys being a Robin all the time, so I just assume that means Robins are someone who holds the more important person in the relationship back.)
But Cable…it was different with him. I don’t want to say we’re on the same level, but it felt like the movie was more about him, and I was just there to make it interesting. You know, actually give people reason to show up to the theater. Provide the action and comedy — things that actually stimulate the mind, unlike his boring sob story.
Oh, oh! And we finally did Juggernaut right! Although, that was a weird experience. Not so much the physical impact but the mental. It all felt sort of self-inflicted. Gah! Too much thinking! See what Cable does to you?!
2. Deadpool & Wolverine
Now this is cinema. And I shall count the reasons why!
- Not a single cheap callback.
- Finally allowed Henry Cavill to shine in the role he was born to play.
- Got Chris Evans to not only rejoin the MCU but also prove he is #MyJohnnyStorm.
- Proof that Gambit can be done well.
- Me, Wade Wilson, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
1. Deadpool
Listen. You just can’t beat the classics.
Plus, this one was all about me. No Wolverine to hog the spotlight. No Cable to bring down the mood. Just me, a tin man, a super-powered woman trying to find her place in the world and a villain who lies — wait a second! Did Wicked rip me off?!
