The major question surrounding any quarterback for anytime touchdowns is how much rushing equity they have. Players such as Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts are more likely to rush for a touchdown compared to Joe Flacco. Drake Maye finds himself in the middle of the pack.
Maye isn’t an elite rusher, but he’s capable of breaking loose for big chunks. Will one of those be for a touchdown? He scored four in the 2025 regular season and one during the playoffs, so it’s not an incredible amount like Allen’s 14 or Trevor Lawrence’s nine in the regular season.
Additionally, he’s going up against the one of the best run defenses in the NFL. Seattle has allowed just three rushing touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks this season and allowed the second fewest rushing touchdowns overall.
Another key factor to consider is that the Patriots have two solid running backs in TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson. Both will be used within the redzone, making it less likely that Maye gets opportunities to score on the ground.
At +285 odds, there isn’t enough juice for the risk. Maye doesn’t have enough rushing equity within New England’s offense for this bet. If the odds were longer, I’d consider it, but these are too short for my liking.
