The Houston Rockets are coming off a couple tough losses as they head into Oklahoma City for a matchup with the Thunder on Saturday afternoon. However, standout forward Amen Thompson’s status is in question for the contest.
Thompson has been downgraded to questionable for tonight’s game with an illness, per the official NBA injury report.
If Thompson doesn’t play tonight, Dorian Finney-Smith could see more time at the forward spot. Alternatively, Houston could go smaller with either of Reed Sheppard of Aaron Holiday at guard in the starting five.
Thompson, 23 years old, is in the midst of a career-best campaign for the Rockets. In his third NBA season, he averages a career-high 17.8 points and 5.5 assists, also pulling down 7.6 rebounds per contest. Beyond contributions in the box score, Thompson remains one of the league’s elite defenders thanks to his athleticism and range.
The Rockets are 31-19 on the campaign, sitting fourth in the Western Conference. Tonight’s game could hold major implications down the stretch as the postseason draws nearer.
Houston is listed as a 3.5-point road underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook tonight against the Thunder.
