Why Rashid Shaheed will be King of the End Zone for Super Bowl 60
You’ll notice that Shaheed isn’t on the list above with the shortest odds to score a touchdown. He is a higher risk play to find the end zone, but if he does, he has a good chance of taking home the King of the End Zone crown since he’s the team’s top deep threat and also returns kicks. He’s far from a “safe” play, but he brings very high upside if he scores a touchdown, and he should be a less popular King of the End Zone play than those options above, making the potential bonus bet award higher if he has a long score.
Shaheed has been a deep-ball specialist throughout his time in the NFL. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints after playing college football for Weber State. During his time with the Wildcats, he set the FCS all-time record for career kickoff return touchdowns with seven and earned All-American honors four times. He started the 2022 season on the practice squad, but he scored a 44-yard rushing touchdown on his very first career touch. In his second career game, he hauled in a 53-yard touchdown strike from Andy Dalton.
Throughout his three and a half seasons with the Saints, he continued to be a home-run threat, totaling 15 touchdowns as a receiver, rusher, and returner. Earlier this season, he caught an 87-yard score from Spencer Rattler, which was his longest touchdown of his career to that point.
At the trade deadline, the Saints traded Shaheed to the Seahawks in exchange for 2026 fourth and fifth-round picks. Shaheed had only four catches in his first four games with the team, but in Week 14, he returned the second-half opening kickoff for a 100-yard touchdown, earning the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award.
He also returned a punt 58 yards against the Rams on Thursday Night Football in Week 16 for the longest touchdown in that high-scoring game.
In the playoffs, Shaheed got things off to a fast start for the Seahawks by returning the opening kickoff of the team’s game against the 49ers for a touchdown.
In the NFC Championship against the Rams, Shaheed wasn’t able to get into the end zone, but he did haul in a 51-yard catch, which was actually his longest catch since joining the team.
The Patriots gave up a punt return touchdown to Malik Washington against the Dolphins in Week 2, but they have not allowed a return touchdown since then.
If Shaheed breaks loose for a big score in the Super Bowl, either in the return game or as a receiver, he could definitely be the King of the End Zone based on the great big-play potential he brings every time he touches the ball.
