Why Jaxon Smith-Njigba will be King of the End Zone for Super Bowl 60
Sam Darnold joining the Seahawks and DK Metcalf being traded to the Steelers was the perfect storm for Jaxon Smith-Njigba this season. The wideout led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards in the regular season and, between the regular season and playoffs, Smith-Njigba has scored 12 touchdowns in 19 games, which is the most of any player in this Super Bowl.
Smith-Njigba has scored in both of Seattle’s playoff games and his usage has been incredible this season, leading the entire NFL in target share (35.4%), including 29 targets over 20 yards and 22 red zone targets. The receiver also leads the league in YPPR (3.57) and he ranks fifth among wideouts in total YAC (587).
Not only is Smith-Njigba’s touchdown equity truly elite thanks to his incredible volume, he has big play ability, as well, which is key when playing King of the End Zone. Smith-Njigba has four touchdowns of at least 28 yards this season, including two scores of 60+ yards.
