Predictions for WWE WrestleMania 42 Card

Predictions for WWE WrestleMania 42 Card

Published:

By: Ryan Wohl

The WWE is officially on the road to WrestleMania 42, and throughout the next two months, the card will start to take shape for the biggest event of the year. WrestleMania 42 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 18-19.

With Roman Reigns and Liv Morgan winning the 2026 Royal Rumble matches, they have guaranteed championship matches at WrestleMania. Check out my predictions for the WrestleMania 42 card below.

Potential WWE WrestleMania 42 Card

World Heavyweight Championship Match: CM Punk (c) vs. Roman Reigns

*This match has been made official.

Roman Reigns won the 2026 Royal Rumble and has chosen CM Punk as his opponent for WrestleMania 42. This is the first official match for WrestleMania and has the potential to be one of the biggest Main Event matches in recent memory.

Since Punk returned to WWE, he has faced Reigns in a triple threat match and teamed with him in WarGames. But up until this point, Punk and Reigns haven’t faced each other in a singles match since January 2014. Reigns beat Punk in their lone singles match on Monday Night Raw. But that was a different Reigns, as he was a part of the Shield. 12 years later, Reigns stands toe-to-toe with Punk as the former Undisputed Champion and Tribal Chief. While Reigns was in the midst of his dominant 1,300+ day title reign, it would have seemed impossible to see him eventually face Punk. This is a legit dream match for WWE fans.

WWE Undisputed Championship Triple Threat Match: Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Jacob Fatu

Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes have been feuding for months, and even after McIntyre won the title, their rivalry has continued. McIntyre eliminated Rhodes in the Royal Rumble, even though he wasn’t officially in the match. Another layer to their story has been the addition of Jacon Fatu, who cost Rhodes the title in the three Stages of Hell match. I believe that Rhodes will win the Elimination Chamber, but the match will eventually turn into a triple threat as Fatu’s resurgence unfolds.

Women’s World Title Match: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Liv Morgan

After Liv Morgan eliminated Raquel Rodriguez in the Royal Rumble en route to winning the match, it seemed like that was the direction they were going. But Stephanie Vaquer retained her title against Rodriguez in a Philly Street Fight on Monday, making a title match against Morgan a possible Mania match.

Women’s Intercontinental Championship Match: Becky Lynch (c) vs. AJ Lee

Although we haven’t seen AJ Lee since WarGames, it would still be surprising not to see her at WrestleMania 42. If Lee returns for Mania season, the clear matchup would be to continue the rivalry with Becky Lynch. Like Punk vs. Reigns, Lynch vs. Lee would be another marquee match that we never though was occur.

World Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos vs. Lucha Brothers

The Usos have an upcoming title defense against the Alpha Academy, but a victory is likely. Since the Raw tag team division isn’t deep, and the Usos are superstars, they need a big matchup for WrestleMania. We have yet to see Rey Fenix and Penta reunite in WWE as the Lucha Brothers, but a potential match against The Usos would be excellent.

Women’s Tag Team Title Match: Rhea Ripley & Iyo Sky (c) vs. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. The Bellas vs. Nia Jax & Lash Legend vs. Bayley & Lyra Valkyria

The women’s tag team division has been heavily featured over the last few months and includes many former champions. The Bellas announced on Raw that they want a shot at the tag team titles and join the deep division. With so many teams after the champions, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky, a multi-team match makes sense. The Bellas, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax and Lash Legend, Bayley, and Lyra Valkyria challenging for the titles in a five-way match would be a good option.

Men’s Intercontinental Championship Match: Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Finn Balor

Over time, we have seen a ton of tension between Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor. They have worked through their differences in the past, but I think Balor will leave the Judgment Day, setting up an Intercontinental title match with Mysterio at WrestleMania 42. Recently, we have seen more of Balor by himself, and a returning “Demon” vs. Mysterio would be an excellent contest.

Singles Match: Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi

Brock Lesnar eliminated Oba Femi after the newcomer had a dominant showing. During the Rumble, Lesnar and Femi had a face-to-face, but there wasn’t much back-and-forth because they were interrupted. Although a matchup between Lesnar and Gunther makes sense, this would also be a massive showdown between two of the most powerful wrestlers in WWE.

Singles Match: Bron Breakker vs. Seth Rollins

Bron Breakker, alongside The Vision, took out Rollins months ago. Rollins is legitimately injured but has recently said that he hopes to be back by WrestleMania. At the Royal Rumble, a masked man took out Breakker, and many people believe it was Rollins. To me, it was either Logan Paul or Rollins, and Rollins makes the most sense due to his previous storyline with The Vision.

Singles Match: Gunther vs. Randy Orton

Gunther eliminated Randy Orton, and if he wants to continue down the career-killer route, Orton is a logical choice. The only two current legends Gunther could go after next are Orton and Lesnar. Gunther defeated Orton twice in one-on-one matches in 2024 at King and Queen of the Ring and at Bash in Berlin.
