Scottie Scheffler (+345)
Despite finishing T12th at the BMW Championship last week and revealing after his final round that he has been dealing with hand, foot and mouth disease, Scheffler is easily the most bet golfer for the TOUR Championship. This is usually the case when Scheffler tees it up, but a whopping 21% of the handle being on him did surprise me after last week. For just the second time this season, Scheffler collectively lost strokes on approach and with his putter at Bellerive, and he absolutely may still be feeling the effects of his illness at East Lake. Scheffler’s resume at this course is awesome, though. The world No. 1 has finished inside the top six in all but one his six starts at East Lake. Scheffler won the 2025 TOUR Championship, he finished runner-up in 2022 and T4th last season. However, Scheffler has shot even par or worse seven times at East Lake, so this course has given him problems at times. Nonetheless, Scheffler knows how to get it done at this venue and could win if he is feeling 100%, but if the illness is still lingering, taking home the $10 million top prize certainly will be a challenge and these odds do feel too short for Scheffler given those concerns.
Collin Morikawa (+2100)
These odds are just too long for Morikawa. Him getting a ton of traction at this price is no surprise. Morikawa has played East Lake six times, and while he has three finishes of T19th or worse here, the Cal product finished inside the top-six in his three other visits to this venue. Morikawa finished runner-up in 2024, and he shot a career-low 9-under 61 at this par 70 in 2023. Now, Morikawa heads back to East Lake on the heels of a T4 finish at the BMW Championship, which is his seventh top-10 of the season. Morikawa won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February, and he was in the mix at the Travelers Championship in June, finishing solo third and one shot outside the playoff between Scheffler and Viktor Hovland. Morikawa leads the PGA TOUR in SG APP this season, which is a terrific sign for East Lake, as four of the past five winners here have finished the event top-seven in the metric.
Rory McIlroy (+790)
Coming off a T40 at the Open Championship and a T66 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, McIlroy regained his form at the BMW Championship, finishing T3rd. The Irishman shot a 6-under 64 in the first round and a 5-under 65 in the third round at Bellerive. Outside of around the greens, McIlroy gained strokes in every major category for the tournament. This was a great showing by McIlroy and a welcome sign after some poor starts, but the veteran has a hard time following up strong performances this season. Last week marked his fifth top-10 finish of the season, and after the first four, McIlroy has had some underwhelming results, going WD, T19th, T12th and T40th. So, how will McIlroy fare at East Lake after contending at Bellerive? Well, McIlroy is a three-time winner at this track, and he has finished inside top-five in 5-of-12 starts at the par 70, but he did finish a career-worst T23rd at East Lake last season. Still, McIlroy ranks fifth in this field in strokes gained per round at the course, so it’s hard to hold last year against him. All that being said, McIlroy’s lack of consistency this season is tough to overlook and chasing his performance from last week doesn’t feel wise at these very short odds.
Wyndham Clark (+1650)
It’s hard not to like Clark at this price. The 32-year-old just secured his third win of the season at last week’s BMW Championship, winning the playoff event by a convincing three shots. At three victories, Clark is tied with Matt Fitzpatrick and Chris Gotterup for the most on the PGA TOUR this season. The difference is, all of Clark’s wins have come in his last 10 starts and over the last three months. Furthermore, two of his victories came in world-class fields, winning the U.S. Open and the BMW Championship. Clark is neck-and-neck with Scheffler for Player of the Year honors, and Clark winning at East Lake is a real possibility. The 32-year-old’s game is firing on all cylinders right now, gaining strokes in every major category in back-to-back starts and at East Lake, Clark has been excellent, finishing third and eighth, and shooting under par in all eight of his rounds. Clark has shot 67 or lower in half these rounds and he ranks third in this field in strokes gained per round at East Lake.
Sam Burns (+1500)
Burns finished an uninspiring T28th at the BMW Championship last week, including 1-over 71s in the first and final rounds at Bellerive. Before this, though, Burns was on a tear, finishing inside the top five in four of his previous six starts. The LSU product finished runner-up at the U.S. Open, solo third at the Open Championship and T3rd at the FedEx St. Jude Championship just two weeks ago. When we compare this field’s last 24 rounds, Burns ranks fourth in total strokes gained. While all these high finishes are great on paper, Burns struggled to close out some of these tournaments. The 30-year-old was the leader at the Open Championship heading into the final round, but let that major slip through his fingers with a 2-over 72 on Sunday. Also, Burns was second on the leaderboard heading into the final round at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, but he crumbled in the final round again with a 3-over 73. Burns hasn’t won in over three years and his inability to close out events is difficult to ignore. Burns has finished inside the top 12 at East Lake each of the last three years, including a career-best T7th last season, but he finished T18th and 24th in his first two starts and 5-of-20 rounds here have been even par or worse. Burns ranks just 13th of this 30-man field in strokes gained per round at East Lake and him finally rejoining the winner’s circle at this course would be surprising.
