Pacific Tigers vs. Santa Clara Broncos prediction, pick for NCAAM on Wednesday 2/04/26

Santa Clara walks into Stockton in the thick of a real WCC chase, and every road night feels like a résumé deposit. The Broncos are 19–5 and 10–1 in league play, and the math says they’ve been playing like a top-tier group for two months. Pacific is 15–9 and 6–5, and this is the kind of home spot where a good mid-table team turns into a problem. The line is Santa Clara -6.5 for a reason, but the environment screams earn it. A road favorite in February always has to prove it can stay clean when the home team starts swinging. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the Pacific Tigers and the Santa Clara Broncos.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Pacific vs. Santa Clara prediction, preview

Santa Clara is at 83.6 points per game with a +12.8 margin, and it gets there by shooting 47.4% from the field and putting up 9.8 threes a night. Pacific is steadier than flashy at 75.1 points per game, but it’s been a grown-up offense too, shooting 47.7% overall, 35.9% from three, and 76.6% at the stripe. The pace gap matters here: Santa Clara lives at 72.3 possessions per game while Pacific prefers 68.8, so the first five minutes will tell the story. My lean is that Santa Clara’s tempo and shot volume win out, because its offensive efficiency sits at 1.157, and Pacific’s turnover rate at 17.5% is exactly the kind of leak a pressure team keeps squeezing.

Christian Hammond (G) is Santa Clara’s headliner at 17.0 points per game on 51.7% shooting, and he’s the rare lead guard who can score without breaking structure. Elijah Mahi (F) gives them a second torque point at 14.4 per game, the kind of forward who turns a good possession into a great one with one hard decision. Allen Graves (F) at 10.1 per game and Bukky Oboye (C) finishing at 68.7% from the field is the balance that keeps Santa Clara from becoming a one-man diet. Hammond already showed the ceiling in non-conference, popping twenty in the Minnesota win while Santa Clara buried sixteen threes, which is the exact scoring burst that snaps a close game in half. For Pacific, Elias Ralph (F) is the engine at 16.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, and he’s the guy who has to make Stockton feel tight. Jaden Clayton (G) is the organizer at 6.0 assists per game, sitting 27th nationally, and that’s the kind of table-setting that can keep an underdog’s possessions from getting frantic. Isaac Jack (F) is the interior hinge at 69.2% shooting, and Justin Rochelin (G) brings size and rebounding juice at 6.1 boards a night.

Santa Clara vs. Pacific pick, best bet

The Tigers can shrink the game by controlling defensive rebounds at 78.1%, then living at the line with that 76.6% free-throw touch. If they keep Santa Clara out of runout points and force half-court patience, the dog can hang around on shot-making and whistles. Santa Clara’s risk is right there in the profile, too, because it commits 25.1 personal fouls per play, and foul-heavy nights are how road favorites lose oxygen. The refutation is the same every time: Pacific can’t donate possessions. A 17.5% turnover rate against a Santa Clara team built to turn pressure into points is how this gets lopsided before the crowd even settles.

So I’m laying Santa Clara -6.5, because the matchup is begging for a clean, professional favorite win. The Broncos should push early pace, hunt quick paint touches into kickouts, and let the defense create extra shots instead of waiting on jumpers. Pacific should try to slow it, feed Ralph into mid-post touches, and use Clayton to keep the ball out of panic. I just expect the pressure and tempo to win more possessions than the home whistle can save.

Santa Clara 82, Pacific 74.

Best bet: Santa Clara -6.5 (-110) at Pacific
