The WM Phoenix Open is the next stop on the PGA Tour calendar, as some of the best players in the world head to TPC Scottsdale.

WM Phoenix Open: First Round Leader Picks
The WM Phoenix Open is being played at TPC Scottsdale. TPC Scottsdale is a par-71 course, which ranges 7,261 yards. Strong play off the tee is a key to victory in Scottsdale. One of golf’s best events has a great field ready for battle. Two-time Phoenix Open champion Scottie Scheffler is a massive favorite after his win at The American Express in his season debut. Another two-time Phoenix Open champion, Brooks Koepka, is also looking to make his mark this week. Xander Schauffele, Cameron Young and Viktor Hovland are among others in the field looking to challenge Scheffler.
Maverick McNealy FRL (+4300)
Maverick McNealy has a great 2025 season. In 26 events, he had seven top-ten finishes. He has carried that momentum into 2026, starting the year with a T24 at the Sony Open, then finishing 10th at the Farmers Insurance Open last week. McNealy will be excited to be at TPC Scottsdale, where he has performed brilliantly in the past. McNealy has finished inside the top ten in both of his career starts at the WM Phoenix Open. In 2024, McNealy was T2 at the end of the first round. McNealy is a great putter, ranking 26th on Tour in strokes gained putting last season. So far this season, he has been great with the driver, ranking 18th in driving distance. If McNealy can give himself some birdie looks with his iron play, he should roll in some putts and could go very low on Thursday.
Pierceson Coody FRL (+5400)
Pierceson Coody has been one of the breakout stars on the PGA Tour so far this season. Coody had a couple of solid finishes last season, but was not competitive in any prominent events. He is currently playing the best golf of his career. Coody has finished in the top 20 in all three events that he has played so far, including a T2 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open last week. He has been great in opening rounds, including his opening round 62 at The American Express, which gave him a share of the first-round lead. Just like at The American Express, Coody might not outduel Scottie Scheffler over four days, but he could be better than him on Thursday. Coody is 15th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: total this season. He has a chance to go out and put up a low number on Thursday to take the opening round lead.
