After just four games were played yesterday, the NBA is blessing its fans with a 10-game featured slate on Tuesday evening. More games not only means more viewership and revenue for the league (obviously); it also provides more competition for DraftKings’ King of the Court promotion, which it runs every Tuesday.
If users opt into the contest and use their King of the Court token on a player prop bet (minimum $5 wager) with -200 or longer odds, that bet will become an eligible entrant to the contest. Any user who used their token on the player who finishes with the most combined points, rebounds, and assists tonight will receive a share of $1 million in bonus bets to be paid out the next day, proportional to the number of users who used their token on the player.
The bet doesn’t have to hit: for instance, if a user bets on the Los Angeles Lakers’ Luka Dončić to record 8+ rebounds (-116) and he only snags seven but ends up leading all players in P/R/A, that user will still be paid out their share of the bonus bets. Regardless, hitting on a bet never hurts.
The three players with the highest P/R/A over-unders are Dončić (48.5), the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokić (43.5), and the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (43.5). If users want to stick with the stars, here are the bets they should consider to begin.
Luka Dončić 10+ Assists (+112)
Despite leading the league in scoring, Dončić is actually enjoying the second-best playmaking season of his career, dishing out 8.8 dimes per game. Playing with two elite secondary creators clearly hasn’t hurt him much, as in the eight games he played alongside both LeBron James and Austin Reaves, he saw a slight uptick to 9.1 per game, reaching double digits four times. He might see a small dip in ball-handling responsibility if Reaves returns from the calf strain that has held him out since Christmas, but that should be overshadowed by the benefit of playing with the league’s eighth-best shooter by expected field goal percentage differential (a stat in which Dončić ranks third).
There are a couple of critical differences between his playmaking in the earlier games with James and Reaves and now. James has improved dramatically as a shooter as the season has gone on, posting a 57.2% true shooting percentage in his first 15 games of the season but a 60.4% mark in his most recent 16. More importantly, he has a great matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, who — after a brief cameo as one of the league’s elite defenses in December — have given up the fourth-most assists per game this month. Dončić’s primary defender will likely be Terance Mann, who’s ranked as one of the league’s worst defenders by composite metric RAPM.
Nikola Jokić 2+ Steals (+156)
As a stat-stuffer and interior playmaking hub who rarely misses games, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Jokić ranks in the top three in points, rebounds, and assists since the start of the 2019-20 season. But while he doesn’t have the outright lead in any of those categories, he does have more steals than any other player, with 659. He’s had 15 multi-steal games in his 34 appearances (+126 implied odds), including three in just 24 minutes in his return on January 30. Jokić is a poor rim protector, but he makes up for that weakness by using his quick hands and unparalleled basketball IQ to impact passing lanes and drives.
Plus, it’s hard to pick an offensive prop for Jokić because the Detroit Pistons have virtually no defensive weaknesses. Since the start of January, they have the league’s best defensive rating, giving up the fewest points, ninth-fewest rebounds, and fewest assists. In that span, Detroit has been particularly effective around the rim, conceding the third-lowest percentage within five feet, where one-third of Jokić’s shots have come. However, the Pistons have given up the fourth-most steals per game across that span, as Cade Cunningham ranks third in the league in turnovers per game.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander U32.5 Points (-123)
Fading Gilgeous-Alexander is always a risk, but 33 points is such a high line for any player, and the reigning MVP has fallen short of it in three of his last four games, reaching it only in his most recent game against the Denver Nuggets, who don’t have a good defense. And while he’s technically been above that number since Jalen Williams went down, averaging 33.4 points per game across that span, those numbers were buoyed by a 47-point effort against the awful Indiana Pacers in which sixth man Aaron Wiggins also did not play.
I just trust the Orlando Magic’s defense too much. Sure, Orlando has ranked only 15th in defensive rating after finishing second in 2024-25, and it has actually been a bottom-10 unit in the five games since former All-Defensive Second-Teamer Jalen Suggs returned from his latest injury, but in a larger sample size, the Magic still have the equivalent of the league’s fourth-best defense with Suggs on the court. Suggs didn’t guard Gilgeous-Alexander much in the teams’ two matchups last season, but he’s limited both De’Aaron Fox and Cade Cunningham to 28.6% shooting this season and could present similar challenges for Gilgeous-Alexander if they spend any time matched up tonight.
