Buffalo Bulls vs. Miami OH RedHawks prediction, pick for NCAAM on Tuesday 2/03/26

Miami (OH) walks into Buffalo unbeaten, ranked No. 23, and carrying the kind of season every opponent wants to scar. Buffalo gets the rare home date where the building feels like a referendum on its MAC hopes. The line says Miami should control this, but the total says both teams can score in waves. That combination creates tension all night, because every empty trip matters more. This spot plays like pressure on Miami and liberation for Buffalo. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the Buffalo Bulls and the Miami OH RedHawks.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Buffalo vs. Miami OH prediction, preview

The numbers explain why the total is sitting in the mid-160s without blinking. Miami plays at 74.3 possessions per game, and it scores 1.197 points per possession. Buffalo plays slower at 69.6 possessions, but it still scores 1.143 per possession. Neither side needs a perfect night to post a big number. Miami’s shot profile is a points machine, with a 59.9% eFG and a 46.1% three-point attempt rate. It also finishes at 62.6% on twos, so the offense never relies on one lane. Buffalo’s defense has not held up, sitting at 1.104 points per possession allowed. That gap matters on a night where Miami already expects to get shots early.

Buffalo has the offensive teeth to keep Miami from ever relaxing. It owns a 56.4% eFG, and it launches threes at a 44.3% rate. The make rate is real too, sitting at 38.9% from deep. Miami’s defense is sturdier than Buffalo’s, holding opponents to a 50.8% eFG, so Buffalo has to earn every clean look. That puts real weight on spacing and decision-making, because Miami also forces turnovers on 16.3% of opponent plays. Ball security becomes the quiet swing, since both offenses usually protect it well. Miami turns it over on 13.4% of plays, and Buffalo sits at 13.8%. If that stays even, the game keeps its pace and stays on schedule for points.

The players fit the math, which is why this matchup can feel like a track meet even without chaos. Brant Byers (G) gives Miami a steady heartbeat at 15.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. Eian Elmer (F) pairs with him as a second scorer at 14.1 points and 6.0 rebounds, and that balance keeps defenses from loading up. Buffalo counters with Daniel Freitag (G) as the headliner at 20.1 points, the type who can win hard possessions late. Noah Batchelor (G) adds 16.4 points with 3.7 assists, which matters when Miami tries to speed up decisions. This game also has a recent reference point that matters for confidence. Miami won 105–102 in the first meeting, and both teams showed they can score on each other.

Miami (OH) vs. Buffalo pick, best bet

The case for an under always starts with road legs and defense travels, and Miami’s defense is not fake. Miami suppresses opponent eFG, and Buffalo can drift into tough threes if the ball sticks. Buffalo also has a soft defensive rebounding profile at 69.4%, which can hand Miami extra cracks. That’s the counterweight to a high total, because misses can become empty possessions for Buffalo. The refutation is that the free-points lane keeps the floor high for both offenses. Miami’s FTA/FGA is 0.406, and Buffalo’s is 0.434. Both teams also play in a way that invites whistles, with foul rates hovering around the low-20s per play. Even a meh shooting night can still climb when the stripe stays busy.

I’m betting over 164.5, because the support comes from more than pace alone. The possessions are there, Miami’s efficiency is elite, and Buffalo’s defense has not produced consistent stops. The three-point volume is real on both sides, and the free-throw pressure gives the total a second engine. Recent form also leans points, because Miami’s last five games have averaged 178.4 combined points. The first meeting landed at 207, and the matchup ingredients have not changed.

I’d play over 163.5 to 166.5, because the scoring lanes still cash inside that range. Predicted score: Miami (OH) 88, Buffalo 82.

Best bet: Buffalo vs. Miami OH o163.5 total points (-110)
