Sunderland vs. Burnley prediction, pick for Monday 2/2/26

Matchweek 24 of the Premier League concludes on Monday as Burnley travels to take on Sunderland in a game that sees 11th place take on 19th.

Sunderland are -130 favorites on the moneyline for this one on DraftKings Sportsbook, with a draw available at +255. Fancy a Burnley upset? They are +400 to pick up three points.

Sunderland vs. Burnley Prediction, Pick

There is only one team that is still undefeated at home in the Premier League this season, and it’s Sunderland. That statement might come as a shock to many people, but it’s the reality.

The Black Cats have turned the Stadium of Light into a fortress and that will likely be the biggest reason that they stay up this campaign after being promoted from the Championship a season ago. Some of the biggest clubs in England have gone to Sunderland and failed to win, including the two teams on top of the table in Arsenal and Man City. If those teams can’t get a win at the Stadium of Light, I doubt Burnley can pull it off.

Burnley have accumulated the second fewest points away from home so far this season, collecting five out of a possible 33. Yikes.

On the flip side, Sunderland have the seventh-best home record in the league, and a win on Monday would catapult them into the third-best record as they’ve played one fewer home game than every other club in the league.

Yes, these are two newly promoted teams playing against each other, but they couldn’t be further apart in terms of what they’ve done since entering the Premier League. Burnley are fighting for their lives, 11 points from safety. Sunderland are thriving, 13 points ahead of the drop zone. A win on Monday would see them climb from 11th to at least eighth in the table.

Burnley did win the reverse fixture at home, but that was all the way back in August. A lot has changed since then, and I think Sunderland will continue to dominate in their home stadium, especially against the second-worst side in the league.
