This matchup is worth the trip to MSG because it features two dominant champions who are superstars in the sport of boxing. Both fighters are 28 years old and in their primes, and historically, it was uncommon for boxing stars to go head-to-head at that stage.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Stevenson is the favorite at -300 with the defending champion being a +230 underdog. Even though Stevenson is a big favorite, this matchup is a lot closer than the odds suggest. Lopez enters this fight with an enormous amount of championship experience. He won his first world title at 22 years olkd and this will be his seventh world title bout. Meanwhile, this is Stevenson’s ninth world title contest in his career.
Lopez’s lone career loss came against former champion George Kambosos Jr. in November 2021. Since that fight, Lopez has won six consecutive bouts, with his most recent against Arnold Barboza Jr. in May 2025.
Stevenson beat William Zepeda by unanimous decison in July 2025 in his previous fight. According to CompuBox, Stevenson has the best plus minus (20.20 in boxing. Stevenson is known for his tremendous defense and his elite, accurate striking. Opponents only connect on 16.7 percent of their overall punches (second among P4P) and 19.5 percent of their power shots (first among P4P) against Stevenson. Lopez is a very skilled boxer, but it would be surprising if he could break through and land big power punches since Stevenson is incredibly defensively sound.
