Super Bowl Sunday is a little over a week away, and the stage is set for a fantastic matchup between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. In this rematch of Super Bowl XLIX, every single playmaker for the Pats will need to operate at their respective peak to get the better of an elite defense on the opposing side.
New England is a 4.5-point underdog with the game total set at 45.5 combined points on DraftKings Sportsbook.

While talk about a backfield takeover for rookie halfback TreVeyon Henderson dominated the New England media circles for much of the regular season, such chatter has all but quieted over the last three weeks. Rhamondre Stevenson, the veteran runner who’s in his fifth campaign with the team, has taken a stranglehold over this committee and turned it into a one-man show.
The 27-year-old ended the regular season with at least 100 scrimmage yards in back-to-back games and five total touchdowns in that span, showing signs of his former self who had performed as one of the NFL’s higher-ranked running backs in years prior. While he didn’t out-touch Henderson in either of those games, the tide shifted when Stevenson handled a greater share of rushing carries in the Wild Card against the Chargers, rushing 10 times for 53 yards and catching three passes for an additional 75. He followed up that 128-yard outing with 81 scrimmage yards in the Divisional Round and 71 total yards in the AFC Championship Game, both of which came against elite defensive units.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Stevenson’s prop bet lines are set at O/U 14.5 rush attempts, 50.5 rushing yards and a longest rush of 12.5 yards. His receiving lines sit at O/U 2.5 receptions and 21.5 yards. Finally, his +155 odds to score an anytime touchdown are the third-shortest of any player in this game.
If there’s anything to know heading into Super Bowl LX, it’s that Stevenson has claimed this backfield for himself. The veteran halfback handled 10 carries in the Wild Card, 16 carries in the Divisional and a staggering 25 rush attempts in the AFC Championship. Meanwhile, Henderson saw just nine, 12, and three carries over the same span. It’s clear to see that head coach Mike Vrabel values Stevenson’s reliability and vision, and it’s also evident that the runner seems to be over his ball-security issues that showed up in the early weeks of the campaign. He hasn’t lost a fumble since Week 5.
The weather may have played a role in his carry count last week as heavy snow worsened conditions in Denver, but it seems Stevenson should see a heavy workload once again in Santa Clara. I quite like taking the over on his 14.5 attempts in this contest after he cleared it in each of the last two playoff games, especially given how the Patriots may look to control the pace of play and keep the ball out of the hands of an excellent Seahawks offense.
Given the volume he’s likely to absorb, over 50.5 rushing yards also makes a ton of sense for Stevenson, even in the face of a very strong front seven. The veteran has exceeded that line in all three postseason appearances so far and ran at a clip of 4.0 YPC or better in two of the three, so he can certainly make the most of his workload on Super Bowl Sunday. Plus, he either went over or flirted with that line in the final four weeks of the regular season as well, recording 131 yards on seven carries, 47 yards on eight carries, 51 yards on eight carries, and 50 yards on six carries over that period. Despite his reputation, Stevenson can do damage even when his carry count is limited.
Thankfully, it won’t be in this game. He should clear the over on both his rush attempts and rushing yards with room for more.
Best Bet: Rhamondre Stevenson over 14.5 rush attempts (-130); over 50.5 rushing yards (-113)
