BREAK IT DOWN:
(stats taken from DraftKings Sportsbook’s Stats Hub)
Ausar Thompson Over 8.5 Rebounds + Assists (-103): While Thompson’s reputation is far more as a defensive stopper than a counting stat maven, he has cleared this prop in seven of his last 11 starts. He’s also averaging 6.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists so far in the month of January, while his 12.8% total rebounding rate for the season as a whole ranks third among Pistons rotation players. That said, I’m still having a difficult time processing why this prop is so popular. Thompson starts for Detroit, yet he rarely sees anywhere close to 30 minutes of action, and specific to tonight’s matchup, the Suns are no slouch, ranking sixth in the league in defensive rating (112.1). I don’t hate this bet, I’m simply confused by it.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 30+ Points (-178): This feels like more of a parlay piece than it does a straight up prop bet. Still, it’s hard to sit here and say that I disagree with the intent. Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the NBA’s top scorers, leading the league in field goals made per game (10.9) and averaging a robust 32.0 points per contest. In fact, SGA has reached or exceeded the 30-point plateau in 30 of his 46 starts so far in 2025-26, though he has failed to do so in back-to-back matchups heading into tonight’s tilt with the Timberwolves. Might be worth keeping an eye on the status of Rudy Gobert before locking in with this bet. Gobert is questionable, and Minnesota goes from an elite defense with the former DPOY on the floor, to allowing 119.4 points per 100 possessions with Gobert on the bench. Quite the difference.
Domantas Sabonis to Record a Triple-Double, Yes (+1000): One of these things is not like the others. One of these things has [checks notes] …odds of 10/1 on the DraftKings Sportsbook. Usually I wouldn’t write up a prop this long, but I’m legitimately intrigued as to why this bet is catching the eye of the public as much as it is. There’s a couple things to consider. First and foremost, Sabonis appears to be fully back after a long-term injury absence, logging 32.7 minutes in Tuesday’s loss to the Knicks — his most game time since November 16. He collected 11 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in the defeat. Secondly, Russell Westbrook has already been ruled out for this evening’s contest with Philadelphia. Westbrook leads Sacramento in assist rate (34.1%), so Sabonis might be tasked with a larger playmaking role in his teammate’s absence. For his career, Sabonis has tallied 68 triple-doubles. Not too shabby.
3-Pick Parlay
Taking three of the most-bet player props individually is always an option, but why not roll them into a parlay and get in on all the action at once? It’s a fun way to tie everything together — feel free to tag along.
