Miles McBride 3+ Three-Pointers (+106)
The Knicks have been struggling to score over the past few weeks. In the month of January, they are averaging just 108.6 points per game after averaging over 120 points per game in both November and December. New York needs to find an offensive spark, and it very well could come in this game against the Kings, who rank 28th in the NBA in defensive rating this season. Deuce McBride could be one of the players to get things going for the Knicks offensively. McBride is a streaky shooter, as evidenced by his going 1/8 from three against the 76ers last time out. However, McBride never lacks confidence and will keep shooting.
So far in January, McBride is averaging 8.3 three-point attempts per game. He has made at least three three-pointers in three of his past five games as well. While it isn’t a dramatic difference, McBride has also shot better at The Garden, averaging 41.1% from three at home, compared to 39.6% on the road. There is a chance that the Knicks dominate the Kings in this game. That would likely mean more playing time for McBride than normal, as Mike Brown would love to rest Jalen Brunson whenever possible. McBride should get plenty of shots up in this game and at plus-money, it’s worth a bet on him to make at least three three-pointers.
DeMar DeRozan Over 18.5 points (-103)
The Kings could be shorthanded tonight in New York. Zach LaVine and Malik Monk are both game-time decisions against the Knicks. LaVine is the Kings’ leading scorer this season, so they would really miss him on the offensive end of the floor. If LaVine can’t go, DeMar DeRozan will need to shoulder the burden offensively. DeRozan is the team’s second-leading scorer and has already been carrying the load the past several weeks. LaVine was fantastic to start the season, but missed a chunk of time due to injury in December. Ever since returning from that injury, he has not produced on the same level.
So far this month, DeMar DeRozan leads the Kings in scoring, averaging 19.6 points per game. He has already been the team’s primary scorer for the past few weeks. If the Kings are missing LaVine and Monk, who rank second and fourth on that January scoring list, DeRozan will see his usage rate increase significantly. DeRozan played great against the Knicks in Sacramento two weeks ago. He finished that game with 27 points after getting to the free-throw line 13 times. DeRozan was able to get into the paint and draw fouls from Karl-Anthony Towns last time out, and that strategy should work again tonight. With the Kings relying on him so heavily, DeRozan should get at least 19 points on the board.
