Creighton vs. Marquette College Basketball prediction, preview
I’ll continue to fade this dreadful Marquette team until it proves to have any consistent pulse. The Golden Eagles lost again at Butler on Friday night, slipping to 4-16-1 ATS this season. Marquette is 7-5 outright at home, but just 3-9 ATS — and it’s been even worse lately at 1-8 ATS in its last nine home games.
Of course, the Golden Eagles have also been abysmal as an underdog this season. Marquette is 0-10 in the underdog role this season, with those 10 losses by an average of 14.4 points. The issue has been on both sides of the ball, with Marquette ranking 135th on offense and 128th on defense, per KenPom.
While Creighton isn’t anything special, you’d have to have some serious red flags for me to say you aren’t good enough to beat Marquette. The Blue Jays don’t have those red flags. They’ve been solid on the road at 3-3 ATS, and perform well as the favorite, sitting at 10-2 outright.
Creighton last played on Wednesday, so it has a rest advantage coming into this game with the Golden Eagles playing on the road on Friday. As you’d expect, we can find another angle to go against Marquette here, which is 0-3 ATS with a rest disadvantage, failing to cover by 7.5 points per game.
These teams met in Omaha earlier in the season, and the Blue Jays ran away with a 21-point victory. While the revenge angle is always popular, this just means Marquette knows it can’t hang with this team. I’ll play Creighton as the short road favorite and bank on Marquette continuing its dreadful ways.
