The quarterfinals of the Australian Open continue on Tuesday night for American viewers. One of the biggest matches of the tournament so far is the battle of two of America’s top players, Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova. The match begins at 9:00. p.m. ET.

Jessica Pegula has already knocked off two Americans, including defending Australian Open champion Madison Keys, en route to the quarterfinals. This is Pegula’s fourth Australian Open quarterfinal in the past six years, but she is 0-3 in her three previous trips to this round. Pegula has never made it past the quarterfinals at any Grand Slam venue other than the US Open. At 31 years old, she is still seeking her first Grand Slam title. At the level she is playing in this tournament, she has a real shot to win the whole thing. Through four matches, Pegula has yet to drop a set. In fact, she has yet to have an opponent win five games in a set. However, she faces her toughest test to date in the quarterfinals.
Amanda Anisimova has been a dominant force over the past few months. Anisimova’s story was widely publicized last year when she made her triumphant return to the top of the sport. The former prodigy had taken time away from the sport after her career seemingly fell apart. However, she ended last season making the final at both Wimbledon and the US Open. She is on a quest to make it three consecutive Grand Slam finals here in Melbourne, but to finish this one with a win. Just like Pegula, she has yet to drop a set through four matches in Australia. Between the last three Grand Slams and the 2025 WTA Finals, Anisimova has only lost to either Iga Swiatek or Aryna Sabalenka. This should be a great test for her against Jessica Pegula with a spot in the semifinals on the line.

My best bet for this match is for it to go over 2.5 sets. This bet can be found at plus-money on DraftKings Sportsbook. That is great value for a match where it’s hard to find a significant edge between these competitors. Anisimova is a very small favorite, at odds of -123, while Pegula is +101 to win the match. Both have been dominant so far in this tournament as they respectively chase their first Grand Slam title. Neither player has had to go to a third set yet in this tournament, but this match could go down to the very end.
These two have faced each other head-to-head three times before. The first came all the way back in 2020, a match that Pegula won. They then faced off twice in 2024. Both of those matches were won by Pegula as well, but both stretched to three sets. These two have both been fantastic with their serves at the Australian Open. Incredibly, they have both won exactly 76% of their first serve points in this tournament, the most of any woman to play at least four matches. Both players should hold serve and be able to push this match to the brink. In one of the most highly anticipated matches of the tournament so far, viewers should get their wish of a three-set battle.
