AEW Dynamite: Announced Matches & Segments – January 28, 2026
Swerve Strickland vs. Andrade – Singles Match
This match has all the makings of a show-stealer, and fans are getting it for free on a Wednesday night edition of AEW Dynamite. This will be Andrade El Idolo’s third match since officially being cleared to compete in AEW, with victories already notched against Angelico and Magnus.
Standing in his way is Swerve Strickland, who remains firmly focused on the AEW World Championship. Since returning to singles competition, Swerve has picked up impressive wins over Josh Alexander and Kevin Knight, reinforcing his position near the top of the card.
This is a difficult one to call. Neither man can really afford a loss, especially with Andrade also making it clear that he has his sights set on the AEW World Championship. From a storyline perspective, Andrade would benefit greatly from a win here, as it would further establish him as a legitimate threat in the title picture.
That said, it’s hard to see AEW slowing Swerve’s momentum right now. Expect a highly competitive bout.

FTR (c) vs. Jake Doyle & Mark Davis (Don Callis Family) – AEW Tag Team Championship match
Another match that has the potential to be a total banger sees FTR taking on one of the newest tag teams in AEW, Mark Davis and Jake Doyle. While Davis and Doyle should get plenty of offense and moments to shine, this feels like a spot designed to keep FTR rolling.
As the year progresses, Davis and Doyle have all the tools to become serious players in an AEW men’s tag division that continues to get deeper and more competitive. However, they still feel a bit early in their journey to be knocking off a team like FTR on a big stage.
Give them time. Gold feels inevitable for this pairing. For now, though, FTR should pick up the win.

Mark Briscoe vs. El Clon – TNT Championship match
It’s shaping up to be a tough night for the Don Callis Family this Wednesday. El Clon has yet to suffer a loss in AEW, but the sample size remains small, with just two singles matches and one Trios bout under his belt.
This represents the biggest test of his career so far, and while the upside is obvious, it still feels early to be crowning him a champion. The larger story for El Clon appears to be on the horizon, particularly with Hologram expected to return from injury at some point.
This should be a strong showcase for El Clon and another opportunity to highlight his potential. However, it likely will not be enough to take the TNT Championship from Mark Briscoe.

Kenny Omega vs. Rocky Romero – Singles match
If Rocky Romero wins this match, I’ll eat an unpeeled pineapple.

Jon Moxley vs. Ace Austin – Singles match
Ace Austin has popped up sporadically on AEW/ROH programming lately, including recent Ring of Honor spots. He’s scored singles wins over Rocky Romero and Johnny TV heading into this matchup with Moxley. Like the Omega/Romero bout, an Austin victory would be a massive upset. The high stakes: if Austin beats Moxley or lasts the full time limit, he earns a future Continental Championship shot. That adds intrigue, but Moxley’s on fire right now and should come out on top.
Jon Moxley vs. Ace Austin Prediction: Jon Moxley
Kris Statlander vs. Thekla – AEW Women’s Championship match
A couple of shocking moments from Dynamite: Maximum Carnage led directly to this matchup. First, the Triangle of Madness defeated the Babes of Wrath and Kris Statlander in a Trios Match. It was Thekla who scored the pinfall on Statlander, earning herself this title opportunity.
I’m already 0–1 when it comes to picking a winner between these two, so take that for what it’s worth. Still, it would be surprising to see Statlander drop the championship here. Thekla has an incredibly bright future in AEW and already feels like a major player in the making, especially after Triangle of Madness picked up that win at Maximum Carnage.
This should be a strong showing for Thekla, and she should look dangerous throughout. In the end, though, Kris Statlander feels like the safer pick to retain, with Thekla coming up just short in a competitive bout.
