With 3:41 left in the third quarter of Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks, Ajay Mitchell was replaced by Brooks Barnhizer. Mitchell injured his hip and has been ruled out for the rest of the game. There’s been no mention of when or how the injury occurred.
Prior to exiting, Mitchell contributed 18 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 25 minutes of action. Mitchell made his ninth start of the season on Wednesday.
Mitchell has been a significant part of the rotation all season, backing up Shai Gilgeous-Alexander at point guard while also playing alongside him at times. If Mitchell is out for an extended period of time, Cason Wallace and Isaiah Joe would be the likely beneficiaries.
