After logging 17.0 minutes of action in Tuesday’s loss to the Heat, Domantas Sabonis has been ruled out for tonight’s contest against the Raptors.
This news doesn’t come as all that large a shock. Sabonis missed 27 games with a partial meniscus tear in his knee, and now the Kings are doing everything in their power to keep the big man healthy heading into the trade deadline. In fact, since returning on January 16, Sabonis is averaging just 19.3 minutes a night and he’s yet to re-enter the squad’s starting five.
While it’s rookie Maxime Raynaud that will continue to start in Sabonis’ place, DeMar DeRozan is probably the Sacramento player most impacted by the All-Star’s absence. When sharing the floor with Sabonis in 2025-26, DeRozan only sports a 17.0% usage rate — a surprisingly low figure for a man with over 26,000 points. DeRozan is always a little extra motivated against Toronto, the team that drafted him back in 2009, so it wouldn’t be a shock to see the veteran wing put together a decent performance on Wednesday.
The Kings are 6.5-point home underdogs on the DraftKings Sportsbook. Sacramento is 17-27 ATS this season — the worst mark in the West.
