NHL hockey. Tuesday night. Collision course! We’ve got eight games on deck with some absolute bangers included on the schedule. The Wild kick off tonight’s slate at 7 p.m. EST against the Canadiens, the Sharks head to Tampa Bay to take on the lightning, and the Stars look to shake off a slump against a surging Bruins roster half an hour later. That’s not all, which means there are a ton of player prop picks to consider tonight.

Nikita Kucherov anytime goalscorer (+110)
The Lightning are the NHL’s hottest team at the moment, notching a 10-0-1 record since the holiday break. One player at the center of this surge is, of course, Nikita Kucherov. The Russian superstar has a whopping 19 points in eight games this month alone and is up to 70 on the campaign, fourth-most of any skater in the league. He’s done so with 24 goals, potting six shots over his eight January contests and 11 in 11 games since the holidays. Given his recent run of form, I like Kucherov to find the back of the net again tonight at least once. The Sharks allow 3.50 goals per game, third-most of any team, consistently relying on their own offense to win matchups. Tampa Bay blew out San Jose in the last meeting back on January 3 by a 7-3 margin, a contest in which Kucherov logged five points with a goal and four assists. We could see a similar result tonight, so I’m taking the plus odds even if he’s the shortest listing in the anytime goalscorer market for this game.
Quinn Hughes 4+ shots on goal (+175)
The Wild are working without young star Matt Boldy as well as Joel Eriksson Ek and Marcus Johansson, leaving them in need of other offensive threats to step up. Folks in the building are likely quite glad to have traded for Quinn Hughes last month, especially since the defenseman has notched 20 points across 18 games with the team. He’s been quite aggressive with the puck recently, logging four or more shots in five of his last seven games. While it hasn’t translated to a ton of goals, that’s perfectly fine since we’re looking for a longer-odds play here. You could target 3+ shots for him at -140 odds for a safer pick, but where’s the fun in that? Hughes should continue to pressure the net at a high rate, filling some of the gap left behind by his injured teammates. A game against the Montreal Canadiens should be a hard-fought, back-and-forth affair. It’s not the easiest defensive matchup, but the stars should elevate against another playoff-bound opponent.
