What happened to Jimmy Butler? Live injury updates for Heat vs. Warriors on Monday 1/19/26

With 7:41 left in the third quarter of Monday’s game against the Miami Heat, Jimmy Butler was replaced by Gary Payton II. Butler went up for a rebound but injured his right knee as he landed. Butler had to be helped off the court and is now in the locker room.

Prior to exiting, Butler contributed 17 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals in 21 minutes of action.

If Butler is out for an extended period, it’s obviously a huge blow for the Warriors, as Butler’s two-way prowess cannot be replicated. With Butler off the court this season, De’Anthony Melton has seen the biggest usage rate bump of 4.88%, but that was in only 128 minutes. Stephen Curry garners a team-high 33.07% usage rate and Jonathan Kuminga saw a 3.7% bump to 27.74% in 277 minutes. Kuminga hasn’t played recently, though, and it looks like he and the Warriors will permanently part ways before the trade deadline, but this Butler injury could change the outlook.
