Le Moyne Dolphins vs. LIU Sharks prediction, pick for NCAAM on Monday 1/19/26

This is the kind of NEC Monday where the standings sit right on the scorer’s table. LIU is 11–7 and still unbeaten in league at 5–0, so every road stop feels like a first-place defense. Le Moyne is 8–10 and 3–2 in conference, which makes this a clean chance to tug the race tighter. The gym should carry real edge, because Le Moyne has protected home court often enough to believe. LIU has the better resume, but the spot asks a simple question. Can the league leader win the possession game again, even when the opponent knows exactly what’s coming? Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the Le Moyne Dolphins and the LIU Sharks.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Le Moyne vs. LIU prediction, preview

The shape starts with pace that stays honest for forty minutes. LIU sits at 71.9 possessions per game and Le Moyne is right there at 70.7, so this should not crawl. The offenses are close by efficiency, with LIU at 1.041 and Le Moyne at 1.027, which is why the total sits in the mid-140s. The separator is how LIU creates extra shots. LIU’s offensive-rebound rate is 36.1%, and that is enormous for this level. Le Moyne’s offensive-rebound rate is only 25.1%, so it usually has to live on first-shot quality. The shot diets also pull different directions. LIU is rim-first, taking twos at a 71.1% rate, while Le Moyne is far more three-forward with a 41.4% three-point rate. Le Moyne has also been sturdier at the rim defensively, holding opponents to 45.7% on twos, while LIU has allowed 52.2% on twos. The whistle can push this game into a higher band, too, because both teams get to the stripe, with FTA/FGA around 0.339 for LIU and 0.365 for Le Moyne.

The player layer explains why LIU keeps surviving these league nights. Jamal Fuller (G) is the heater, sitting at 15.6 points per game and hitting 47.6% from three. Malachi Davis (G) is the organizer at 15.4 points with 4.1 assists, and he keeps LIU from getting stuck. Greg Gordon (F) gives them a downhill scorer at 14.9 points on 57.1% shooting, plus real connective passing. The recent form is even louder. Against Saint Francis in a 67–63 win, Fuller dropped 23 on 6-of-8 shooting and lived at the line, while Gordon posted 22 with 12 rebounds and three blocks. LIU also won that night with bulk, grabbing 49 rebounds and creating 25 second-chance points with eleven blocks behind it. At FDU in a 66–59 win, Gordon led with 16 on 8-of-12, Davis added 15 with seven assists, and Jomo Goings (G) chipped 13 with seven boards. That game was paint-first too, with 52 points in the paint, and LIU used a 21–4 run to seize the middle of the game.

Le Moyne has its own momentum, and it is the kind that matters at home. In the 72–57 win at Chicago State, it erased an 18-point deficit, then closed the night with a 20–3 burst. Tennessee Rainwater (F) popped for a career-high 17, Trent Mosquera (G) added 16, and Shilo Jackson (G) logged 13 points, ten rebounds, and seven assists. That comeback profile matters today, because LIU’s style invites long games with multiple swings.

LIU vs. Le Moyne pick, best bet

Le Moyne’s cover case is clear if the threes land early. With a 41.4% three-point attempt rate, it can turn a two-point-heavy opponent into a team chasing spacing. Jackson’s rim protection and rebounding also give Le Moyne a way to survive misses without panicking. The tighter counter is that LIU’s best skill travels, because rebounding effort is portable. A 36.1% offensive-rebound rate means missed shots can still become points, and that is how favorites survive road variance. LIU also blocks shots at a higher clip, and those clean stops can become easy paint points before Le Moyne’s defense gets set. Le Moyne can absolutely win the “first-shot” battle, but it has to finish possessions, because LIU will keep coming back to the glass until the game breaks.

So I’m playing the board as it sits: LIU -1.5 with a 146.5 total. This number is telling a close game, and I agree with that part. I still side with LIU because the offensive-rebound edge is the most repeatable advantage on the floor. Le Moyne’s three-point volume can keep it dangerous, but LIU doesn’t need a hot shooting night to win. It can win on misses, on second shots, and on paint volume.

I’ll lay the -1.5, and I’d play it to -2.5. LIU 76, Le Moyne 72.

Best bet: LIU -1.5 (+100) at Le Moyne
