UPDATE: Adams has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain.

With 9:45 left in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans, Steven Adams was replaced by Dorian Finney-Smith. Adams went up for a block attempt against Zion Williamson but injured his left leg when he landed.

Adams had to be helped to the locker room.

Prior to exiting, Adams contributed five points, 10 rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes.

Adams will be missed for Houston because of his bone-crushing picks on the perimeter and offensive rebounding prowess. Adams is second in the league with 4.7 offensive rebounds per game. He was often playing alongside Alperen Sengun for a double-big lineup that abused opposing teams.

If Adams misses time, Clint Capela could enter the rotation backing up Sengun, or Ime Udoka could employ big wing lineups.
