UPDATE: Murray-Boyles will not return.

With 6:19 left in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Collin Murray-Boyles was replaced by Sandro Mamukelashvili. Less than a minute earlier, Murray-Boyles went up for a dunk but was stymied when Luka Doncic swiped down. In the process, Doncic hit Murray-Boyles’ already taped-up thumb. Murray-Boyles is now questionable to return.

Prior to exiting, Murray-Boyles contributed 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks in 25 minutes of action.

It would be a tough loss for Toronto because Murray-Boyles has been so good as the de facto small-ball center. His versatility at both ends of the court have been huge. Mamukelashvili would see an uptick in playing time with Murray-Boyles out, at least until Jakob Poeltl is ready to return.

Stan joined DraftKings in December of 2020. It was a glorious time, except for that whole COVID thing, when we got Madden streams and boisterous bat flips from the KBO. I was brought on board to bring some West Coast flavor. I especially love hoops, and most of my content is in that arena. When I walk along the beach, strumming my guitar, the beat that I hear is not one of crashing waves. No, it is the beat of the ball bouncing off the hardwood with highs provided by the squeaks of the sneakers. Ball is life.
