After the Opening Drive in the Aloha State at this year’s Sony Open in Hawaii, the PGA TOUR begins its 2026 season on the mainland with The American Express in La Quinta, California. The American Express uses a unique format with three courses in the rotation for the first three rounds. Players will play one round on the Pete Dye Stadium Course at PGA West, one round on the Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West and one round at La Quinta Country Club. The cut will be after the third round, with the remaining players competing on the Pete Dye Stadium Course for the Final Round. Last year, Sepp Straka won the event by two strokes over Justin Thomas with Justin Lower and Jason Day tying for third.
