Liverpool vs. Burnley prediction, pick for Saturday 1/17/26

There is an exciting Saturday Premier League fixture between defending champions Liverpool and Burnley. Despite their recent struggles, Liverpool remains in the top four in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Burnley is deep in the relegation zone, looking for a lifeline.

Liverpool is a -425 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook for this one, with a draw available at +550. Burnley are +1000 to pull off the upset at Anfield and take all three points. This is my prediction and pick for the Premier League tie between Liverpool and Burnley.

Liverpool vs. Burnley Prediction

Liverpool Preview

After a disastrous run of form towards the end of the 2025 calendar year, Liverpool has found some stability in recent weeks. They have gone 11 straight matches without suffering a loss. The Reds put in a great performance last time out in the Premier League to pick up a draw over top-of-the-league Arsenal at the Emirates. They followed that up with a 4-1 victory over Barnsley to move on to the next round of the FA Cup. Hugo Ekitike has returned to full fitness, which is a big boost for Liverpool up top. However, they have also lost right back Conor Bradley for the remainder of the season, making them short-handed at the back.

Burnley Preview

It has been a rough first season back in the Premier League for Burnley. Scott Parker led Burnley back to the top flight, but for the second straight trip to the Premier League, it looks as if Burnley will go straight back down. They currently sit in 19th, ahead of only a historically bad Wolves side. To make matters more frustrating for Burnley, Leeds and Sunderland, the two clubs they were promoted alongside are both performing well. Burnley may end up being the only newly-promoted side to go back down to the Championship.

Liverpool vs. Burnley Pick

My best bet for this match is for Liverpool to keep a clean sheet against Burnley. After facing major defensive struggles for a stretch of the season, Liverpool has found some much-needed stability on the back end. They have one of the best goalkeepers in the world, Alisson Becker, and one of the best center-backs the league has ever seen, Virgil van Dijk. Both of them are in good form at the moment, and van Dijk’s center-back partner, Ibrahima Konaté, has finally started to play at the level he had shown the last couple of seasons. New fullback signings Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez are both starting to gel with the team at long last, in addition to veteran options Joe Gomez and Andy Robertson.

Over their 11-game unbeaten streak, Liverpool have kept five clean sheets and have allowed just one goal in four matches. They have been sharp defensively and shouldn’t face too much pressure from Burnley. Burnley has not scored more than one goal away from home since November 8th against fellow relegation zone side West Ham. Other strong defensive sides like Chelsea and Arsenal have kept clean sheets against Burnley this season, not to mention Liverpool itself doing it in the first matchup this season between these clubs. These teams faced off at Turf Moor in the opening month of the Premier League season, and Liverpool won 1-0. The reigning champions should keep a second consecutive clean sheet against Burnley on Saturday.

Best Bet: Liverpool to keep a clean sheet (-135)
