There’s a slim chance that the Seahawks could march into battle without their field general.
Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold is listed as questionable ahead of Saturday’s NFC Divisional Round showdown against the San Francisco 49ers with an oblique injury.
Darnold, 28, spoke with the media shortly after and said that he expects to play against the 49ers — emphasizing there’s a near zero percent chance he sits out.
The veteran signal-caller dazzled in his first season with the Seahawks, dishing out the NFL’s fifth-most passing yards (4,048) while leading Seattle to its first division title since 2020.
Darnold punctuated his 2025 campaign by completing 20 of 26 passes for 198 yards in the Week 18’s division-deciding matchup in San Francisco.
According to The Athletic’s Michael-Shawn Dugar, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald will provide an injury update on Friday.
Drew Lock would start under center for Seattle if Darnold is sidelined, and he got some reps with the starting squad during Thursday’s practice. The sixth-year veteran has thrown just three passes this season for a total 15 yards.
The Seahawks (14-3) are fresh off capturing the NFC’s No. 1 seed and a first-round bye. Meanwhile, the 49ers (12-5) are coming off 23–19 triumph against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles in the Wild Card round.
Seattle is currently listed as a seven-point home favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET.
