While Blazers’ star Deni Avdija was initially listed as doubtful for this evening’s contest against the Hawks, the former lottery pick has since been ruled out for the second straight game due to lower back soreness.
Prior to Tuesday’s loss to Golden State, Avdija had yet to miss a single start in 2025-26, averaging 26.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists, in what is becoming a true breakout campaign for the 25-year-old. Avdija appears to be a shoo-in to make his first All-Star team in February, and he’s also a leading candidate for Most Improved Player of the Year honors.
With Avdija not available versus the Warriors, Portland was limited to 97 points and a 43.4% field goal rate in a lopsided loss. I can’t say the result was all that surprising. With Avdija on the floor this season, the Blazers are producing 119.1 points per 100 possessions. With Avdija not on the court, the team’s offensive rating crumbles to 102.1. Look for Caleb Love and Shaedon Sharpe to once again function as Portland’s top offensive options on Thursday.
