What happened to Daniel Gafford? Live injury updates for Nuggets vs. Mavericks on Wednesday 1/14/26

Mavericks center Daniel Gafford has been ruled out for the remainder of Wednesday’s game against the Denver Nuggets due to a right ankle sprain.

During the third quarter, Gafford ran down the middle of the paint after setting a screen above the three-point line. There, he collided with Aaron Gordon and rolled his ankle.

Before exiting, Gafford contributed six points and 10 rebounds in 18 minutes of action.

With Anthony Davis out, the Mavericks are thin at center. Dwight Powell will be the biggest beneficiary now with Davis and Gafford sidelined.

Dallas plays tomorrow night, so Powell will likely get the start. The Mavericks then play on Saturday.
