Missouri Tigers vs. Auburn Tigers prediction, pick for NCAAM on Wednesday 1/14/26

Missouri treats nights like this as a public defense of its home floor. The Tigers are 12-4, 2-1 in the SEC, and they have not lost in Columbia. Auburn arrives at 10-6, 1-2 in league, still searching for a clean conference rhythm. This is the kind of January game that becomes a résumé receipt either way. The building will feel it, because the margins in this matchup get decided by one or two runs. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the Missouri Tigers and the Auburn Tigers.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Missouri vs. Auburn prediction, preview

The efficiency profiles tell the story before anything else happens. Auburn’s offense sits at 116.2, Missouri’s sits at 116.1, and both teams want early shots. Missouri’s shooting edge is real, with a 58.0% eFG, while Auburn sits at 54.6%. Missouri also protects its defense better, allowing a 50.1% eFG, while Auburn allows 52.2%. Auburn plays a little faster at 74.1 possessions, Missouri sits at 72.3, so this should live in that quick-strike SEC tempo band. The separator becomes which defense forces harder shots when the first look dies.

Missouri’s home profile keeps cashing, and the player performances tell you all you need to know. Keyshawn Hall (F) can bend this game by himself, and he’s coming off a 30-point eruption. His SEC sample reads like a star profile, with 28.4% usage, a 143.6 offensive rating, and 68.4 true shooting. Auburn needs that efficiency again, because Tahaad Pettiford (G) has carried a 28.7% usage rate with a 42.4 true shooting mark in the same SEC slice. Missouri’s counterpunch is Mark Mitchell (F), who plays with force and gets paid for it. He’s at 27.2% usage with 66.8 true shooting, a 63.9 eFG, and a 0.9 free-throw rate, which is exactly how favorites bury road teams. If Missouri’s guards keep the offense steady, Sebastian Mack (G) becomes the swing, because his 25.3% usage needs cleaner finishing than a 48.0 true shooting mark.

Auburn vs. Missouri pick, best bet

Auburn’s cover case is simple and dangerous, because it travels. Auburn wins extra possessions with a 37.6% offensive rebounding rate, and it generates points at the stripe with a 0.454 free-throw rate. Auburn also keeps the ball clean at a 12.9% turnover rate, which prevents the empty stretches that kill road teams. Missouri’s danger zone is sloppiness, because its 15.8% turnover rate can hand away the only thing that matters in a short spread. The refutation is that Missouri doesn’t need chaos to score, and Auburn’s defense has not held up as a week-to-week anchor. When Missouri gets comfortable, its shot quality stays high, and Auburn’s mistakes get punished immediately.

This line asks a direct question, and I’m taking the home answer. Auburn laying -1.5 on the road ignores Missouri’s 10-0 home profile and the defensive gap in eFG allowed. The whistle matters too, because both teams create free throws, and Missouri can turn that into a steady scoring stream. Auburn’s path is real, but it needs both the glass and the line to stay tilted for forty minutes.

I’m taking Missouri +1.5, and I expect a game that breathes offense without needing a miracle shooting night. Missouri 80, Auburn 77.

Best bet: Missouri +1.5 (-120) vs. Auburn
