The Pelicans and Pacers sit at the bottom of their Conference’s standings, respectively, but there have been some signs of life from other teams. The Trail Blazers have gone 7-3 in their past ten games and are now 19-21, hanging on for dear life as the ninth seed. The Rockets have been sliding, now giving up three straight and 5-5 in their past ten games. The Lakers have also given up three straight, and it’s a dangerous situation because every win counts in the Western Conference.
In the East, the Bulls and Hawks are both within two games of the eighth seed, while the 11th seeded Bucks try to mount a comeback. They might be in desperation mode, considering they’re in a win-now, “please stay Giannis” situation. And to make matters worse, Myles Turner has been one of the biggest underperformers of the season thus far, averaging only 12.4 PPG while shooting 42.2% from the field, both of which are almost career-low marks.

This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for tonight’s slate. We simply choose whether a player will record more or less of the set statistic. Here are my favorite plays for tonight’s action.
Stephon Castle Less than 15.5 Points
The young, talented Castle will get back on track eventually, but not tonight. OKC is by far the NBA’s best defensive squad and Castle has shot 18.2% and 18.8% in back to back games. He’s not this inefficient; he’s averaging 46.1% FG this season, which is a decent jump from his rookie season’s 42.8%, but young players will have periods of streaky shooting.
The Thunder are holding opponents to an average of 105.4 PPG per game and have all the personnel in the world to bother players of any size. I’m not expecting Castle to regain his footing tonight.
Victor Wembanyama Less Than 21.5 Points
And the same goes for Wembanyama, who despite his age and pedigree, is not unguardable (yet). He’s been efficient this season, slashing 51.6/35.5./84.8, but will be playing on the second night of a back to back set after just dropping 29 in a loss against the Timberwolves.
Tonight’s oft-discussed matchup against Chet Holmgren will be intriguing, but the Thunder have and will deploy the personnel to clamp Wemby and make sure he doesn’t get too comfortable. OKC is full of quick, pestering hands that clog passing lanes and can strip bigs down low.
Chet Holmgren Less Than 15.5 Points
Chet’s having a good season, with a career-high 18.1 PPG, but could have trouble tonight against the NBA’s third-best defense. I suspect that they’d be even higher had Wemby played every game this season, but regardless Holmgren will struggle to find his offense tonight. The one on one center matchup with Wembanyama is challenging because of the reach disadvantage. Holmgren is also not a prolific bucket-getter in the first place.
