Seth Jarvis 3+ shots on goal (-130)
One of the NHL’s premier young talents, Seth Jarvis missed multiple weeks due to injury but recently made his return back on January 6. In four games since, he’s notched four points with at least three shots on goal in three of those contests. Here’s what’s interesting. Despite playing eight fewer games than most of his teammates, Jarvis’ 125 shots on the seasons till rank second on Carolina’s roster and he’s notched just four fewer than the current leader, Svechnikov. With 125 shots in 38 contests, Jarvis averages over three shots on goal per game and continually pressures opposing netminders. He’s logged three or more shots in 23/38 possible appearances, giving us a reliable hit rate on this line. A matchup with the Blues is more of a neutral spot than anything else as St. Louis sits 17th in shots allowed with 28.1 per game, but the Hurricanes’ forecheck should lead to plenty of opportunities for offense. Look for Jarvis to record another three shots on goal tonight.
Connor McDavid anytime goalscorer (+115)
As of this moment, Connor McDavid sits second in both points and goals this season with 80 and 30 on the campaign, respectively. The Oilers are having an up-and-down year, but there’s no denying that their star remains one of the two best hockey players in the world. McDavid has a goal in 20 games thus far and finds himself very well positioned to pot another one tonight. The Predators aren’t quite the horrible team they showed signs of being to start the campaign and are 6-4 across their last 10 outings, but the franchise still allows the seventh-most goals per game with an average of 3.29. Juuse Saros is likely to start in net for Nashville with a 2.94 GAA and .897 SV% in his 35 games, and it’s become increasingly clear over the last two seasons that he may not return to his old form of years past. After letting three or more goals sneak past in three of his last five games (which include a six-goal stinker on January 6), he’s a vulnerable netminder facing an excellent offense tonight. McDavid will be at the heart of the attack as per usual.
