The Mist have opened the Unrivaled season in dominant fashion, starting 2–0 and coming off a thrilling two-point win over the Laces on Sunday, sealed by two ice-cold, game-winning free throws from Unrivaled co-founder Breanna Stewart. While Stewie delivered in the biggest moment, it was Allisha Gray who once again set the tone. Gray poured in 28 points in just 15.3 minutes, continuing a scorching start that has her fourth in the league in points per game. Stewart added 22 points of her own, though her perimeter shot has yet to catch up: she’s now 0-for-7 from three in the Mist’s first two games. Still, even with the deep ball misfiring, her gravity and late-game poise remain central to everything this team does.
That said, Gray has been the engine. Her ability to score at all three levels, push pace, and stay composed in high-leverage moments has made her the most consistent offensive threat on the floor. With defenses forced to account for Stewart at all times, Gray continues to find clean looks and punish mismatches, a formula that’s translated seamlessly to the Unrivaled format.
Standing across from them is a Phantom squad that’s 1–1 on the season but boasting an eye-catching +27 point differential. That number was fueled by a Saturday blowout of the Lunar Owls, 94–60, in a game that showcased just how dangerous Phantom BC can be when they get rolling. Kelsey Plum was nearly unstoppable, drilling 50% of her threes while finishing with 38 points, eight rebounds, and 11 assists in a true takeover performance.
Plum is flanked by a well-balanced supporting cast, with Aliyah Boston providing interior stability and Natasha Cloud bringing veteran control and defensive toughness. Even more impressive: the Phantom showed real depth. Cloud and Kiki Iriafen combined for 32 points off the bench, reinforcing that this is a team with multiple scoring avenues and the ability to crack 90+ points despite playing with just five active players. Plus, it’s worth noting the Phantom are still missing Satou Sabally. The 6’4 forward’s ability to stretch the floor, handle the ball, and create for others hasn’t even been factored into the equation yet, meaning this roster’s ceiling remains untapped.
Mist vs. Phantom Pick
Tonight’s matchup has all the makings of a shootout, with elite scorers on both sides and both teams coming off games where they cleared 80 points. The Allisha Gray–Breanna Stewart one-two punch is as dangerous as it gets, but the edge here goes to the Phantom’s depth and overall scoring ceiling. Kelsey Plum’s ability to drain shots from deep has translated seamlessly to the three-on-three style, and with four of the Phantom’s five active players clearing 15+ points in their last outing, the offensive momentum is real.
