We begin the week with nine games on deck for Monday night’s NHL schedule, including a few really intriguing duels like the Hughes brother showdown between the Devils and Wild as well as a meeting between division leaders as the Hurricanes and Red Wings battle. However, we’re focusing on the later portion of the slate for this article and outlining the best player props in the late window tonight.

Best NHL props for Monday 1/12/26
William Nylander 1+ assists (+135)
After a dismal first half of the season, the Maple Leafs have begun to drag themselves out of the cellar in the Eastern Conference. This team is 7-1-2 over its last 10 contests with a three-game winning streak and five wins in the last six outings. William Nylander only just returned from a multi-week absence, but he needed no time to get back up to speed with a three-point outing two nights ago with a goal and pair of assists in just 13:16 of ice time. He’s produced 44 points (15G/29A) across 34 games this season and will only add to his team’s chances of making a second-half surge. Unfortunately, a matchup against a wagon of an Avalanche squad means a win may be tough to come by for Toronto; however, Trent Miner is in net for Colorado with little NHL experience on his resume. The Maple Leafs should manage to net a shot or two even against a strong defense, so I quite like Nylander to tally an assist at plus odds.
Wyatt Johnston 3+ shots on goal (+125)
The Stars have hit a rough patch in recent weeks, dropping some very winnable games and going just 3-3-4 over their last 10 contests. Not all hope is lost, though. Wyatt Johnston has 50 points in 45 appearances with four goals and an assist in his five games so far this month. Dallas’ young star sees a ton of ice time and plays a massive role in the top six, and there’s clear chemistry between he and superstar Mikko Rantanen to boot. Johnston now has at least three shots in four consecutive contests and has shown increased aggressiveness recently, which is much-needed given his team’s slide. The reason I like him to notch at least three shots again tonight is because of his history against the Kings — over his last three seasons against Los Angeles, Johnston has team-high marks of 10 points, 21 shots and seven goals in eight games. Given that track record, it seems there’s just something special about this matchup for him.
