Can you believe the NFL Playoffs have finally arrived? No? Neither can we. This season flew by, but the most important games of the year kick off on Saturday and provide plenty of action over the course of the next few weeks. After the first matchup of the day finishes up, an NFC North showdown takes center stage at 8 p.m. EST. The Chicago Bears far surpassed expectations this season and won the division, securing a home game against the Green Bay Packers.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Packers are a slight -1.5 favorite with -118 odds to win on the Moneyline. The Bears hold -102 odds of an outright win with the game total set at 45.5 combined points.
Let’s break down my top anytime TD scorer bets for Packers vs. Bears during Wild Card Weekend on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Romeo Doubs (+220)
Projecting touchdowns is a bit of a tricky business, but the numbers show some positive signs for Packers wideout Romeo Doubs this week. The +220 odds here make him an excellent value given the circumstances. For starters, the 32 passing touchdowns allowed by the Bears’ defense are the fourth-most of any team and by far the worst mark of any franchise in the postseason picture. That bodes well in itself for Green Bay’s passing attack and Jordan Love, but let’s break this down a little bit more. Chicago actually tied for the second-most touchdowns allowed to wide receivers… and only the lowly Cowboys conceded more. That is the stat to keep in mind here in the late window of Saturday’s Wild Card Weekend slate.
Now, the Packers do notoriously deploy a committee of wideouts with none truly standing out above the pack. However, Romeo Doubs paced the position for Green Bay with 17 red-zone targets this season and tied for the team lead with six receiving touchdowns. Yes, Love spreads the ball around plenty, but Doubs saw 11 more targets inside the 20-yard line than any other player on the roster who will be active for this game. If you’re looking for value, Doubs is a screaming one.
Colston Loveland (+210)
The Packers possess a formidable defense that gives up just 2.3 touchdowns per game, 10th-best in the NFL. It makes sense to expect something around that mark since the Bears scored 22 and 21 points in the two meetings between these sides in Week 14 and 16, so there’s not exactly an excess of TDs in recent matchups. Still, Chicago’s offense averages 2.9 touchdowns per contest, ninth-most in the league. The Bears will certainly put up a fight on offense at the very least, especially with Caleb Williams on a hot streak over the last month-plus of the regular season. The second-year quarterback has tossed two touchdowns in five consecutive games and boasts 14 touchdowns across his last seven outings (with a grand total of 27 overall). This aerial attack looks like it’s rolling heading into the playoffs, so investing in some passing scores makes sense.
Tight end Colston Loveland paced Chicago in receptions and receiving yards while tying for the team lead with six touchdowns this year, capping off a stellar rookie campaign. He truly came online around the midseason mark with a massive performance in Week 9 — he scored all six TDs since that game and also leads the team with nine red-zone targets over the same sample. With a touchdown in back-to-back games and three scores in his last five contests, the odds make Loveland another excellent value to hit paydirt.
