Kansas Jayhawks vs. West Virginia Mountaineers College Basketball prediction, preview

If you listened to the DKN Daily Bets podcast on Tuesday, you had Kansas moneyline tied into some parlays. It’s a miracle that leg got through. The Jayhawks trailed big at home in the second half to TCU, and had over a 99% chance to lose the game on multiple occasions in the final minutes. Kansas faced deficits of nine points with just over a minute remaining and five points with 12 seconds remaining. Somehow, Darryn Peterson got a shot in the air to win the game in regulation, which missed, but KU won in overtime.

Kansas did not look good for most of the game, not to mention, Peterson re-aggravated his hamstring injury, which seems to happen every game. Peterson didn’t play in overtime, so we’ll see what type of role he can play on Saturday. TCU simply outplayed Kansas in the game, and while the Jayhawks deserve credit for grinding it out, it was more of a meltdown by the Frogs.

Kansas is now faced with going on the road for the second Saturday in the row, and facing a major letdown spot. The Jayhawks are 1-2 SU/ATS on the road this season, pulling another miracle overtime win at NC State. The other two games were losses in November at North Carolina, and then a loss last Saturday at UCF. Kansas is now just 2-7 in its last nine road games, dating back to last season.

I backed UCF as the home dog last weekend, and they earned the outright win. West Virginia is worthy of a play as the home underdog in this one. The Mountaineers are a perfect 10-0 at home, and have won 13 in a row at home, going back to last season. The Jayhawks rank just 51st on offense, per KenPom, and I expect them to struggle to score in this game, particularly after going pedal to the metal in the dramatic home win.

CBB Pick: WVU +4.5 (-110)
