The team traded out of the first round, packaging the No. 14 selection with Malcolm Brogdon and future draft capital to bring in the former Wizards forward. Avdija looked solid in his first season with Portland, pitching in 16.9 PPG with 7.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists. Down the stretch of the campaign, he began to show signs of a real breakout but clearly saved his best basketball for this year. In his second season with the Trail Blazers, Avdija now looks like a true All-Star. He posts 26.3 PPG while shooting 47.1% from the field and 35.9% from three-point range, but his impact doesn’t stop there. He brings in 7.2 rebounds per game while dishing out 7.0 assists as well, capping off impressive all-around production. Make no mistake, we’re looking at an All-NBA caliber player here.
Over the last four games, he’s really caught fire with an absurd hot stretch. Avdija has now scored 34, 29, 33 and 41 points across that stretch, with the 41-point night coming against this same Rockets team back on Wednesday. Against one of the league’s best defenses, that outing truly stands out as one of the top performances of his career. Over this four-game stretch, he averages an eye-popping 34.3 PPG on a 50.0% mark from the field and 40.0% mark from distance. He’s also gotten to the free-throw line at least 10 times in each game, knocking down those shots at an 82.0% clip. With this heater he’s on and the volume of 21.0 shot attempts a night, I’d be remiss to recommend anything besides a points prop for Avdija tonight. A mark of 26+ points appears perfectly reasonable for the star given his recent form, especially since he’s reached that number in 21 of his 38 contests and six of his last 10.
