What happened to Brandon Williams? Live injury updates for Mavericks vs. Jazz on Thursday 1/8/26

UPDATE: Williams is eligible for Early Exit.

With 5:58 left in the second quarter of Thursday’s game against the Utah Jazz, Brandon Williams was replaced by Ryan Nembhard. Williams was designated as questionable prior to the start of the game due to an illness, but ended up playing nine minutes off the bench. He has now been ruled out for the remainder of the contest due to said illness.

Prior to exiting, Williams contributed two points, three rebounds and an assist.

Williams has been the microwave scorer off the bench for the Mavericks as Jason Kidd has employed the jumbo lineup with Cooper Flagg at point guard. If Williams misses an extended period of time, Nembhard would likely be the one to see an uptick in playing time. D’Angelo Russell has been a DNP and looks to be out of the rotation.
