What happened to Anthony Davis? Live injury updates for Mavericks vs. Jazz on Thursday 1/8/26

With 2:08 left in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s game against the Utah Jazz, Anthony Davis was replaced by Daniel Gafford and is now in the locker room. Davis jammed his finger when it got caught in the jersey of Lauri Markkanen as Markkanen drove down the baseline.

Prior to exiting, Davis contributed 21 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block in 35 minutes of action.

If Davis misses an extended period of time, it’s likely that the jumbo lineup that Jason Kidd has been employing will morph into a more traditional lineup with Ryan Nembhard entering the starting lineup. That said, Kidd does have some options if he wants to stay big with either Caleb Martin or Klay Thompson.
